Paradisa Sinfonia Post #01 - (Un)Sight(ly)-reading

[Today, in a remote corner of the music room, there is a large, beautiful couch, a couple of very comfy chairs, a few random instruments (a large grand piano and a harp being the centerpiece), and a couple of small tables adorned with decorative trays of little finger foods.

Edgeworth didn't expect more than two people to show up... but, alas. It seemed as though there were more people interested in music than he had imagined. He had expected a small gathering for a titillating discussion of music, but it ended up with musicians and non-musicians alike tinkering with random instruments and/or scarfing away at the (limited) food.

So, he thought he'd try something. A sight-reading test! Why not gauge everyone's starting point? He wishes up scores of the well-known song, Thus Spake Zarathustra, handing it to everyone who happened to have an instrument in hand. With lack of a conductor, he approached the podium and tapped the baton, waving it in the air to signify "start".

Strike those string haphazardly and you may just have your ticket home. Then again, by the nature of the harp itself I am almost convinced that nothing bad can be produced from it, no matter what you do...

You do not. Believe me, the harp may produce ill sounds as much as any other instrument.

That only serves to pique my curiosity, really. I couldn't imagine a poorly-played harp to hold a candle to, say, a poorly-played violin. Or tuba, better yet...

[A laugh] Mayhaps not. I have only my own experience to draw from here and I play neither.
