I don't actually believe in magic, love. I'd like to, but I don't think I can. I'm-I'm sure there's a proper...scientific explanation for... for all these things that happen.

I'll try not to take too much offense by that, sir, but I should tell you that I am a witch. So there is real magic in my world.

...A witch?

[He lowered the book he was reading, just a bit... to look at her with a hint of obvious curiosity. He looks a little frantic at the mention of offense...]

I... I didn't mean to be offensive... to you... or-or to witches. Witches right? Witches is...witch in plural? Is it Witchi? Maybe? I...
I don't actually know what that is... exactly.

A witch is a female born with magical abilities. At least, that is the definition in my world. A friend of mine is also a witch, but in her world a "witch" can be either a male or a female.

...A-are you sure it's magic though? Positive?
M-maybe it's something else... and-and you think it's magic...

[He looks so lost...
He clearly lives in a world dominated by science.]

I'm absolutely certain. I was born with it; I've felt it inside me my whole life. I realize that not all worlds have real magic and it's all right if you don't understand.

Well, today seems like a good day to learn something.
Maybe. Never know. Seems like a good day for me.

What's it like? What can you do?

I can brew potions and cast spells. I've also learned how to read ancient runes, though not all wizards learn that.
