[For the moment, Faye is sitting in her room in the castle, curled up on the window nook. Her journal is in front of her, her fingernails tapping lightly on the cover as she stares blankly out the window. With a sigh, she flips open the journal, looking at a blank page before speaking.]

If anyone out there knows how the other me got home, don't hesitate to fill me in.
I know I was originally destined for riches and all, but I just need to get out of this castle.

Where do people live in this place if they don't live in the castle?

[She scoffs, vaguely amused.]

I mean, that was some reaction when I did. You can't expect me to believe that a girl could inflict that much pain on someone like you. What gives?

[He keeps his eyes focused on the space in front of him.]

I wouldn't underestimate a girl with a grudge.

[She ungracefully slides off the arm and into the couch, catching a better glimpse of his face. Are those... bruises? Squinting, she crawls toward him, tilting his face to the light source.]

[Her staring is starting to make him weirdly uncomfortable. Weren't they supposed to be talking about where to find cheap apartments?]

I got in a fight. [The mother is wisely only implied.]

[Faye didn't know why she should be surprised. It was so like him to get his ass kicked like this.]

Well, whoever it was must have been pretty tough. He actually laid a hand on you. Haven't you learned anything? Geez, you're such a masochist.

[The fact that even here he's trying to get himself killed is a little infuriating. She's trying her damnedest not to punch him again even harder.]

[He's quieter than he should be, considering the sore spot she's poking at, but it's not as simple as he's making it out to be. Like usual, there's a lot he isn't telling her.]

That could explain why I'm here.

[She gives him a sideways glare, crossing her arms again.

[Too much like old times. Maybe he learned something, but that doesn't mean he isn't already regretting it.]

Vicious is alive.

[3nterprising]

[Her eyes widen at the statement. The fact that Vicious is alive doesn't surprise her too much, considering she hadn't seen or heard hide nor hair of him since Spike had bitten the bullet. But the fact that Spike had even brought it up must mean something bad.]

... He's here?

[gottaknockhard]

[This isn't a conversation he wants to have, in any capacity. He's only doing it now because the last time he kept that information to himself, she ended up hogtied in his room.

Not that saying it prevents that from happening, but at least he can say that he warned her.]

How? Why did you-- [She stops herself. It was likely a stupid question to ask.]

You're probably all wrapped up like a mummy under there.

[It's the first thing she thinks of, an image tied to the first time she'd witnessed the apparent clash of the idiot titans. It's the best thing she can muster at the moment.]

[That gets a faint smile out of him. Someone else might think that was a fond memory.]

I've had worse.

[Faye had missed that smile, faint as it was. It had been what felt like ages since she'd seen it. She gives him a smirk in return.]

I don't doubt that.

[Perhaps it was a fond memory.]

[He's quiet for the time it takes for him to suck down the rest of his cigarette, but this one is less uncomfortable than the last. When he's done, he flicks it on the ground and stomps it out.]

Moving out isn't a bad idea. It gets kind of crazy in the castle over the holidays. [Yes, apparently he's already changing the subject.]

[Well, it was good while it lasted.]

I can't really recommend anywhere. But it might be better if I don't know about it anyway.

[Or anyone else. Like certain demons that might take an interest again...]

[He shrugs, unsuspiciously. He's just giving friendly advice here.]

I guess you're hell-bent on staying out of my life.
[The more she thinks about it, the more painful it actually is. So she tries not to.]

I probably should be grateful for that.

[... You know, he remembers why he doesn't usually give advice.]

[His reply doesn't have much bite to it though. Too much on his mind to wear him down, he can barely stay annoyed.]

[Bite or no bite, he was speaking truth. He knew her well, whether or not she wanted to admit it.]

So, why did you come all the way to the castle in the shape you're in? Shouldn't you be resting?

[She probably new better than anybody that resting was unlikely for him in the condition he was in, but it was her turn for a subject change.]
