[ This sound, dear journal, is the irritated closing of a book a little too hard. He still likes books, so its not like he just goes and drops it on the floor or anything, but its a tiny bit of a slam. Another one opens, pages turn, and a sightly more irritated closing and setting aside. ]

Is there a reason that none of the books I am specifically interested in are in braille? [ Gasp, he's speaking properly. ]

Did no one assume that a mage blinded would wish to continue studying? [ This thunk may be Duke's head to the most recent book. Maybe he can get osmosis knowledge. Its a book on magic. It could, right? Right....

He's in a corner of the library, with a few stacks of books about. There's likely one of those nutcrackers somewhere nearby... ]

(Ooc: OPEN KISSING POST., planned and not, Come get him. As he's mentioned, Duke can't see, so he won't know there's one of the evil things nearby until odd urges to kiss people happen.)

It is an attempt to prevent the castle from forcing too much change.

[ He was able to do just about everything by himself before hte castle dragged him here, he doesn't see why it should change that much... ]

[ Pausing, trying to decide if he means literal changes to environment by creating (or at least moving) objects for anyone that wishes for them, or something else completely. ]

... Intend to retain ability to function on own, despite castle's ... alteration upon ability to do so.

[ He's blind because of the castle, and he wants to still be able to be able to function on his own successfully. ]

If it means being ... difficult, by trying to exhaust all other methods prior to relying upon castle, then... [ A somewhat lopsided shrug. ]

Well, I don't think anyone around here could say you're wrong for doing so. I certainly can't blame the blokes that move on out into the surrounding area just to get away either. It's not exactly the most hospitable place at times, and the whole kidnapping thing can put a damper on trying to enjoy the perks it hands out.
