[ This sound, dear journal, is the irritated closing of a book a little too hard. He still likes books, so its not like he just goes and drops it on the floor or anything, but its a tiny bit of a slam. Another one opens, pages turn, and a sightly more irritated closing and setting aside. ]

Is there a reason that none of the books I am specifically interested in are in braille? [ Gasp, he's speaking properly. ]

Did no one assume that a mage blinded would wish to continue studying? [ This thunk may be Duke's head to the most recent book. Maybe he can get osmosis knowledge. Its a book on magic. It could, right? Right....

He's in a corner of the library, with a few stacks of books about. There's likely one of those nutcrackers somewhere nearby... ]

(Ooc: OPEN KISSING POST., planned and not, Come get him. As he's mentioned, Duke can't see, so he won't know there's one of the evil things nearby until odd urges to kiss people happen.)

[ Like they group all the healers in one building and the diviners in another - which sounds a bit silly to Duke. ]

Simply find it... feels better, to be able to aid in both offensive and mending of hurts.

The specialities of the covenants are rather... separated, yes. I don't know if it's like that outside of Troia - Felix never spoke much of his school, with me.

I'm not sure I'll regain the strength to work magic again.

.... [ Give him a moment. Did Thamuris mention that his casting was hard on the body? Well, he did say that he hadn't had the strength for it in years, and had said something about slow dying so- ]

Do you know if it is all magic, or your magic? Have... been looking into creating the normal casting method that am familiar with, if it is not all magic, could create a third....

If I can't do the most basic spells I was taught, I don't think I could learn others.

I studied the form of own worlds magic for some time, and alteration of already learned is common - and how sunburn was obtained. [ He wanted a clear space, and was so busy playing with magic that he forgot about sunlight being a problem. The sun does move across the sky...

Although he can understand that last. It tends to curb his interactions with people, after all. ]

... What method for power? Do you... channel something through you, use your own held-magic, or manipulate external forces without truly drawing them in? Or some other way? Own is more similar to last, if yours is more similar to another... [ Then it would just be learning a new method.

It's... a combination, I think. Magic is something that exists around us, but it takes individual strength to channel and use it. To read the huphantike - the pattern of the future - you have to open yourself completely to it, but it takes a great deal of personal power to do so.

Mmm, not quite. It's not something you can oppose - the power would eat you up inside if you tried, I think. But it takes strength to allow it to flow through you, as well.

Meant - to use your explanation of rivers and streams - if one does not have enough power - is a weaker sort of rock, like limestone, or something that erodes quickly, rather than the rock that comes from deep in the earth and stays same for ages - then the power would... overwhelm? Not strong enough to allow it to... more-or-less safely allow it through, then.

Oh. Yes, that's a good way of thinking about it. That spell in particular can overwhelm someone not strong enough to perform it very easily, and it can be damaging when it does so.

[And damaging even when it succeeds, but that's a thing he Doesn't Want To Think About]

Other, smaller magic - like calling witchlights - those use more personal power than outside power, though one must still be gifted to do so.

Magic of own world is a learned thing - unless one is of a bloodline, but ability does not change the how of magic - and is simply a matter of study.

... Think is rather like math.

Study and have an item. Do not have a true-one here, as have been working the long way for some time, but intend to create something similar.

[ Of course, getting the item was the hard part, limited supply and greedy humans - but that was Terca Lumireis, not Paradisa. ]

An item? Something that can channel magic instead of them?

Correct. ... Or perhaps it is something they direct to channel magic; there are other, similar items that have functions including heating, lighting, drawing and cleaning water, and protective barriers, which usually are started and then left alone to do their work. Item intending to create usually takes shape of bracelet or necklace or something small and easily kept constant, and attention must be upon magic for magic to function.

[ Although there are ways to add small boosting effects that are constantly running, but he doesn't intend to go into that side of Bodhi Blastia here. ]

It is not something widely studied, the creation and maintaining of these things, as the magic part is more important to most.

Hmm - I don't think I've heard of anything quite like that, in my world - though in fairness, it's not something I've researched. We have ways of shaping places to better direct magic, but it's still not something annemer can use.

... that sounds kinda fascinating. Sure, there were Aer Krene, places where that were basically aer fountains, but those were unstable and prone to causing monsters to rampage unless tended.

Although he can kind-of guess how it would work, but he's not quite sure. Make the place shaped roughly like the best spell-shape? Are their spells shaped... ]

... Annemer is word for one who cannot use magic? ... and how does the shaping-of-places work? Can guess, but... [ It would create a lot of careful plantings or something. ]

Ah, yes - annemer are people without magical ability.

And I mostly only know the theory of architectural thaumaturgy - but structures like labyrinths can act as channels for the flow of magic.

Children of the Full Moon are the opposite, for own world. Those who do not need a bodhi blastia due to an internal ability. Usually have some shade of pink for hair color.

... Shape of buildings or other structures of land or plant to make magic .. more reachable? [ Because that makes a bit of sense. ]

...Pink? [There is no way you can convince him that is a natural hair color for a human. Not that he sounds like he's denying it. Just... very confused] Your world is very different than mine, I think.

And I suppose you could probably use plants and trees as shaping, as well as man-made structures - I really only know the basic theory though, I'm sorry.

Pink. [ Agreeing. ] Kritya have a variety of other colors, mostly in the blue or green range, but they also have antennae and long pointed ears so very likely that is the explanation.

[ He doesn't mean antennae like on insects, either. ]

Far more than I know; places where magic is plentiful were places where it was.. a fountain, for lack of better explanation, of magic. Were very prone to overproducing and causing trouble for surroundings...

Yes. Only the... pests have not been produced, simply grown.. more aggressive. Plants grow over-quick as well, and over-large...
