First Snowflake

[The lobby has an unexpected visitor this afternoon, though she might be easy to miss. A tiny little girl lays curled up on one of the tabletops, tucked next to a book. Two wings peek out from behind her back. She's asleep, but not for long!

The little fairy slowly pulls herself up and lets out a big YAWN as she stretches.]

Using magic last night made me hungry. I wonder what’s for breakfast!

[The thought of food makes her smile brightly. But her expression morphs into confusion as she starts to notice her surroundings. Hopping onto her feet, Sugar walks closer to the edge of the table and looks out across the lobby.]

Huh? This isn’t where I went to sleep…

[Well, well, it's a fairy. Of course, Bunny's mostly used to Tooth and her mini selves, which this girl certainly isn't. But still, he moves a little closer]

[Yes, Sugar is a fairy, but she's also a child. You know the rules about children, Bunny, and sadly the Easter Bunny isn't big in the Fairy World. So Sugar can't see him.]

[Then she turns to look at the book was resting near. Books have information, right?]

[Sugar walks over the book and starts pushing at the cover, trying to open it. Her small size is making it pretty tough. All of Sugar's pushing only brings the cover up a few inches. But she seems determined!]

[Aww, adorable fairy child. Bunny watches her for a moment, before reaching over to push the cover open with one paw]

[Sugar is gonna assume she did that all by herself. Because clearly she is a strong season fairy-in-training. She puffs out her chest proudly.] There we go!

[She smiles broadly as she walks across the page, but it fades as she realizes there's nothing to read.]

Aw... The page is blank! Now I have to do that all over again...

[Or does she? For as she speaks, words start to appear on the page. Yup, guess which book she chose to read.]

What? It's writing itself?

[She is obviously the strongest fairy and he is okay with her believing that. He even smiles faintly at her reaction.

Then, opening his own journal, he speaks into it:]

It lets you communicate with other people too.

WAH!!

[At the voice, Sugar leaps back so far her foot lands on the table's edge. Her arms flail as the fairy teeters back and forth, about to fall...

...Until she regains her balance.] Whew...

You startled me, Mr. Book. I didn't know you could talk!

[Oh good, Tooth would..aheh chew him out for letting a fairy come to harm]

Well, I'm not a book, I'm another resident. There are a lot of us, trapped in this place.

Re...si...dent? [What is this word you speak of, Mr. Book?]

Trapped? What do you mean trapped?

It means someone who lives in this place.

Don't you worry, we'll all find a way out eventually, but for now, this is where we get dragged...or sent. I haven't figured it out yet.

So this is my home now?

[She doesn't seem as worried as you'd expect a child away from home to be. Perhaps because she was already looking for a new place to stay in the Human World. Plus most of what he said went over her head.]

I'm not all that sure on that myself. [He still has a feeling MiM had something to do with it, but that doesn't answer what brought the others here] Some people here say it's the castle itself that does it.

Uh huh. To further my training as an apprentice season fairy, I need to find a place to live in the Human World.

Wait, this is a castle? [How exciting!]

A...season fairy? [Quietly amused] Have you chosen a season yet? Or does that get chosen for you?

It is, it's not on Earth...er the Human World, though. It's somewhere else. Haven't figured out exactly where yet.

We get sent back to the exact time we left, eventually, I'm told. So for now, I guess you can do whatever you want to.

Who is Jack? [Hush. Snow is the best.]

Whatever I want? [Sugar's eyes widen at the possiblities.] Could I sleep in and play all day?

Jack Frost. He's a winter spirit. Brings the frost and snow.

[He laughs] Deadset, anything you want at all.

[Oh boy, anything she wants! Sugar can hardly wait. She could sleep until noon! She could eat 10 meals a day! She could--]
