[He flashsteps toward her room, so it doesn't take him very long to make his way over. HOWEVER, when he does get there, he feels stupidly awkward about getting there so quickly. So he's going to casually hang around for the appropriate amount of time before he knocks and calls through the door.]

Wake up!

[ She pulls the door open, a little surprised at how long it took- she was expecting the flashstepping, alright- and it takes a concentrated effort of will to keep from hugging him on the spot.

He's Dave!

He's Dave and he's alive! It's a marked improvement from the last time she saw him, two years ago. ]

Hehehe. I don't fall asleep like that anymore, thank you very much.

[Oddly enough, he feels like hugging her himself. It feels like forever since he last saw her and, as much as he plays up the whole cool, lone wolf shit, he's genuinely missed her. Amongst all the crazies he's had to spend time with? She's pretty god damn level headed. It's refreshing.

Sorta.

The corner of his mouth tugs upward just a little and he snorts.]

I'll believe it when I don't see it.

[ He's taller. That's what she wasn't expecting, for some inexplicable reason. ]

Hehehe. It's been two years without an unplanned nap - just wait, you'll see it.

[ And then she lifts one arm, sort of offering a hug. MAYBE HE IS TOO COOL to take her up on that- can't know until she tries. ]

[Damn right he is. He hasn't noticed it himself, it had happened pretty slowly. Obviously. Damn though, look out for this tally. All the shit on the shelves he can reach now. The world is his oyster.]

I won't hold my breath, then. You think that's a god tier skill or did you just shenanigan your way out of it?

[He stares for a long moment as the arm is held out. He thinks of waving it off, and he fully intends to. His feet, however, have different plans. He steps into the arm but doesn't move his own. Or at all. He just stands there as awkwardly as possible.]

[ Goddamn Dave this is awkward, suddenly. You look like Davesprite-- has anyone ever told you that? Because it makes things just a little weird for her. Regardless, when he steps into the one-armed hug, she will just roll her eyes and pull her arms around his neck, hugging him earnestly. ]

No idea.

[ Muffled into his shoulder: ]

It's been way too long! I missed you and Rose like crazy.

[It's come up. Mostly because they're basically the same other than the huge emotional changes and gaps and the fact that he's an orange bird ghost and Dave is a cape wearing moron. To be honest, he's been mulling over the fact that she asked about Davesprite. It's been a while since he thought about him, it threw him.

He continues to stand still as she hugs him, his arms hanging at his sides until he finally raises one and hooks it around her head. Yup. Best at hugging.]

I bet you fucking did, we're the light of your fucking life. No pun intended. [Even if Rose is the light player..] You've missed some shit. A lot of shit. Mountains of it.

[ Jade won't laugh at the way he sort of hugs her like Davesprite used to-- that's to be expected, right? Of course. Absolutely. She'll just giggle a little at the situation, her face pressed into his shoulder, and be grateful that she got to see him a year before she thought she'd be able to.

It's worth it, for him and Rose-- she believes that absolutely.

But she does pull away finally, her face lit in a wide, happy smile. ]

Yeah? Well, you've missed mountains of shit, too! [ Cheerfully. ] --or if we're being honest, you've mostly just missed the Ghostbusters MMO. Consider yourself lucky.

[Damn right you won't laugh. This is a precious, special moment for Dave's delicate feelings and laughing would crush him. Or, at least, prompt him to get better at the hugging thing or avoid it entirely.

He half smiles back at her before he lets his face slip back into poker mode.]

Wow, you and Egbert are real party animals, aren't you? I don't think anything I have to say can top that so I might as well give up now. Nope. I'm done with story time before I even began.

Nope! It is talk-time. Talk time for you and me! I want to know everything about the meteor - I'm curious, okay?

[ She's stepping back, grabbing at his sleeve and moving to tug him into her room. She's already wished up a ridiculous mess of things-- there are beanbag chairs and a recliner and what looks like a pink mini sofa.

Experimenting. ]

Oh god. [He makes himself sound as exhausted as possible about that. He wouldn't be Dave if you didn't need to bully him into everything ever.] You're setting yourself up for snoozeville, I'm telling you. It was boring as hell there.

[He bitches, but he's letting himself be tugged along without any sort of fight.]

Woah. [He looks around, surprised at how quickly she's gotten the hang of everything. Should he be? She was always a step ahead.] I like what you've done with the place.

I always wanted beanbag chairs.

[ She drops into one of them- a large blue and white striped one- and it swallows her up. ]

And it was boring on the ship, too. I mean, teenage drama, but you probably had that, too! God, John got soooo cranky. I'm glad he seems to be less so here.

Well, you're in luck then. You got 'em. If you ever get lost I'll know where to dig you out of.

[He watches as she gets swallowed up and decides that they aren't really the coolest things to sit on. Instead, he's just going to lean against the wall and fold his arms over his chest.]

You think teen drama is bad? Try troll drama. Two whole different levels. [He shrugs.] Try asking him what his loss is, that'll change.

[ She sticks her tongue out before she can help it, pretty comfortable where she's sank into the seat. That last part gives her pause, though. ]

What's your loss? D'you have any idea?

[ Because Jade still hasn't puzzled out her own. ]

[He nods slowly, tightening his arms so they're folded close up to his chest.]

Yeah, man. Look...It might be hard to hear. You're gonna wanna sit...further down. [He shrugs a little.]

It's the raps, Harley. They floated all the way out of my brain like the most majestic fucking balloon animal. I can't dish out a sick rhyme without getting tongue tied.

[ She tries to look concerned. She tries very, very hard to look concerned. Her eyebrows rise--

And then she laughs.

A lot. ]

Oh noooooo. How will you go on??

[Dave keeps his face straight as she laughs, trying not to give her any reaction at all. Not even an eyebrow. People need to stop laughing at his serious issues.]

I've lasted two months without it. Two slow, painful months. Seriously though, it doesn't feel like anything has changed. It's frustrating, but it's like, I don't even care.

[He shrugs dramatically.] Here's hoping your loss is something hilarious. Just don't ever tell Egbert.
