[And with his private messages sent, Conan moves to address the other issue.  Damage control with the uncomfortably large number of people who may have seen him displaying scarily unchiildlike skills and behavior.  He could hope that the fact that he had disarmed the bomb had been overlooked in all the excitement, but he couldn't rely on it.]

The last few days have been really scary, right?  It seems like there's a really mean person in the castle.

And just what do you think you have to say? [Conan stays cool and calculating even as he begins worrying over just what this guy knew. Not everything. He was sure of that. But parts of it could be just as damaging.]

[And here it was. Conan knew he had to move cautiously now. He needed to push this man just enough to discover how much he had figured out. Too far and... Well, he had already shown himself to be dangerously unpredictable.

The detective deliberately relaxes himself and allows a air of boredom to creep into his voice. Now for the bluff.]

Not at all. But blackmail is rather overused, isn't it? You think you're the first to try it? If you insisted on trying something, I had hoped for something more creative.

That much is known well enough. I've never hidden the fact that I'm a detective.

Maybe it is overused...but if this little exercise has proven anything it's that I can get very creative with something as simple as a good old fashioned kidnapping.

Then again...maybe I'm waiting for a fall. That's what it comes down to in the end.

Maybe I'll panic and throw myself upon the mercy of the good honest citizens of Paradisa? Or maybe my arrest will set off another game that'll result in the destruction of you and anybody even remotely connected to you. Maybe you're still caught in the web and you don't even know it.

I'm hardly about to tell you what I intend to do. Just bear in mind that if certain things are revealed about me, other things will be revealed as well. I doubt you wish to have your activities brought under scrutiny.

[But Conan would be watching him closely. His secrets were not worth someone's death. If the situation became too dangerous he fully intended to act.]
