I know this might seem to be coming out of nowhere and perhaps a bit dark, but, please indulge me if you will.

I have heard the stories and the theories and assertions that when we are sent home, if we are sent home, we are returned to the time and place at which we were originally taken, as if our worlds had stopped in our absence. How many of you believe this is true? Can something truly be so powerful? And do you fear what has happened in your absence, if it is not?

I know it's true 'cause it happened to me. I went home and it was the exact same moment I left.

But what if you are only a handful? What if others are not granted such a boon?

I doubt I'm that lucky. Besides, lots of other people have gone home and come back remembering. Bet they'll say the same thing.

I suppose. so. It is just hard to imagine that sort of power, that... sort of accuracy, I suppose.

From where I sit, the castle seems to have just about any kind of power it needs.

Yes, and even then it is boggling. There is power, and then there is Power. The Castle is along the lines of a god with what it can do, in my opinion.

Whether it has or hasn't is of no consequence to me.

Truly? Isn't there something back home you must do? That you hope has not come to pass?

Not one thing. What ever happens there has no effect on me.

It is your world though. The things that happen there - surely they affect you. You are a part of it.

At one point, but that's in the past. I have no stake in what happens there any longer.

I am sorry you feel that way. I would hate to think your people and your world might have forsaken you.

I would think anything capable of grabbing us against our wills was perfectly able to drop us back right where it took us from. I'm not sure how I feel about it personally--there are things I'd rather avoid back home, if possible, but doing without me might cause everyone a good deal of distress.

And then it just worries me more, contemplating and realizing this place we live in has such power. I thought only Gods could do such things until now.

Well, anyone with enough power can fancy themselves a god. It's all in the application. That said, I'm not particularly comforted by the scale of what this place can accomplish, myself, especially without some obvious figurehead pulling the strings.

Yes, I suppose so. I think having the Castle change so many people... it simple has me wondering and worrying.

It is true, yes. More than one person from my world has come here and I've been from further along in our timeline than they have every time. I don't remember there ever being a time when any of them had been gone from home without us knowing why.

It is comforting knowledge. I am sure when my own paranoia passes, I shall believe it.

How long have you been here?

Oh... a year, I think, perhaps a little over. Truthfully I have not kept a close track of time, but I suppose I should check on that.

I'm amazed you've held onto your paranoia this long. [she laughs] I've been here almost two years now, myself.
