I got a question~! ♪

Sooooo I'm not from Earth, but I've heard a few things about Valentine's Day from people. You know it's a holiday about romance and love and all that great stuff! Which sounds really nice to me! Everyone could use more of that sorta thing in their lives! ♥

But then as the day approaches, most of you seem pretty lackluster about it or outright dreading it! Which is weird since we're in a castle full of attractive people and we can wish for anything we want to make the day go nice!

So I guess after awhile I'm starting to wonder what Valentine's Day is all about...I mean...

Is Valentine's Day actually just some obligatory breeding day so Earth people can keep their population going? Or does the castle just collect a lot of people with really empty love lives?

'Cause honestly, I can't tell which it is~! And I'd like to know too, since Valentine's Day sounds fun, but I'm not sure I'm on-board with the idea of...obligatory breeding for Earth's sake, per say.

I find it kind of ironic that, only a couple days before I arrived here in Paradisa, I broke off my engagement. And now, here I am and it's nearly Valentine's Day. I feel a bit like that information I was given about the castle doing things because it's funny, isn't entirely off-track. Obviously, I can't completely believe in a sentient castle but it is a strange sort of coincidence.

[A short pause as she thinks over her words carefully.]

Now, the important part.

I've met a few of you already and I appreciate everything you all told me. I'm still skeptical about a lot of things but I least I know what's going on for the most part. For those of you I haven't met, my name is Samantha Carter. I'm curious about how many scientists are here and if you've learned anything of importance.

[Yes. Work. Already.]

Case 3: The Unexpected Companion

[There is now dog slobber seeping through the journal, and a young boys voice comes through.]

Toby come on, put it down! We don't need the book! Put it down! They'll hear us!

[Then the sound of tug of war with the dog.]

Let go!

[And then there's the sound of something hitting the floor and a bark. But then it's quiet (no he hasn't closed his journal just flipped it upside down).

What is he trying to hide? Well little Jimmy has decided to stalk the halls of Paradisa, Toby following along with him, a bucket full of various liquid (mostly water or paint filled) balloons with him, throwing balloons at various residents as they find them, hiding behind various things in order to get them by surprise.]

[ Kate can be found in the City Royale this early afternoon, pampering herself with the joys of shopping. Since it's still bright out and she has hours to go before putting on her uniform and heading out for nightly patrol, she's taking her time from store to store, also examining some of the Valentine's decorations adorned everywhere. She mostly wants to be away from the castle, but with the upcoming holiday, it means a sale on things like fancy chocolates, wine, undergarments and other clothes!! ]

In the ballroom...

[For those residents that find themselves locked in the ballroom, it's really quite a sight to see.

Balloons and streamers and cardboard hearts are strewn all about the room, hanging from the ceiling and decorating those tall, locked doors. But even if the doors won't open, it's not the worst place a person could find themselves.

If you're tired, there is a section of the ballroom where Valentine-themed blankets, pillows, beanbags and blow-up furniture spread out across the floor. The lights are somehow significantly dimmer on this side of the room, allowing for easier sleep.

Along one wall is a seemingly endless array of snack foods, candies, hors d'oeuvre, and anything else someone might want to wish up. There's plenty of room! Nearby, a chocolate fountain stands as tall as the average resident, constantly flowing with delicious chocolate for dipping. Directly beside the fountain is a very, very large chocolate chip cookie shaped like a heart. The cookie alone could feed the entire ballroom if desired. Perhaps as you approach the snack area, you'll find yourself holding a tall, cold glass of pink lemonade.

For entertainment, there is plenty of music, movies and video games to satisfy all genres. Residents are free to wish up whatever they'd like! This is all about having fun with others, after all, and Paradisa's willing to allow (almost) anything to get those bonds forming.


TEAM BUILDING EXERCISE OF THE DAY

In the center of the room is a parachute of grand proportions, colored with stripes of red, pink and white. It's rather large, and cannot be handled by just a few people.

Residents may feel encouraged to run over and help lift the parachute. If enough people can band together and start up a few parachute games, the castle will reward the ballroom.

The reward: The ceiling of the ballroom will fade away, giving the illusion of sunny skies and fluffy clouds during the day, and brilliant stars at night.]

[Teresa's been in Paradisa long enough to expect something on Valentine's Day, but she didn't expect to go from walking around in the woods to suddenly standing in a room.

... a very pink and rose-smelling room. HEARTS. There are hearts everywhere, and Teresa can only blink for a moment. It's so saturated it--wait, this isn't her room, is it?

And then she notices that she's not alone.

She sees what you're doing, castle. SHE SEES.]

[She's already turning around and heading for the door.]

[Leaving immediately might have been the best option. Though much better off than she was just a few short days previously, she was still alone and unarmed. It was a dangerous position for anyone to be in, much less someone who’d just recovered from a life-threatening injury. She needed to get back to the castle, to whatever could be called a sense of normality here. Needed to sort through the events of the past few days, to try to clear the jumbled mess that was her head as best as possible.

Besides, it was cold. Very cold.

Instead, however, something compelled her to linger, her eyes continuing to idly watch the spot in the sky he had disappeared into. As strange as everything had been for her (which, considering her life, was saying something), perhaps it wasn't as bad as it could have been. Regardless of the execution and less-than-desirable conditions, one important fact remained. He saved her life. And he didn't have to.

It was a significant chunk of time longer than necessary before she finally decided to complete the journey back.]
