[Dictated]

So I was taking Waddles for a stroll through the castle this morning like I normally do--growing pigs need their exercise!--and we were discussing what kind foods go with which kind of dips, which is a whole 'nother story for another time. While we were walking, I couldn't help but notice that there are a lot of doors without names on them. What's the deal?

I know it's not all the people who died from that whole space thing. By the way? Welcome back! Some of you? Most of you... I was going to send flowers but I thought I had a little more time to get them ready. [She's not going to get technical or even bother to ask why their deaths were shorter.]

My point is, how come there are so many empty rooms? I know that people tend to come and go, but that's a lot. It makes us all more spaced out and far away. I guess if you like privacy it's a good thing, but where's the sense of community if your closest neighbor is aaaaaaall the way down the hall or at the very top of a tower?

It kind of makes you wonder if the castle is starting to downsize on the occupants.

[After being awakened from stasis on that weird and scary looking ship, London is safe and sound on castle grounds again, although she has mixed feelings about it. She at least has the good sense to be wary of anything can abduct her and knock her out for four days. The fact that the general atmosphere after her awakening had taken a turn for the worse worried her a bit. Even someone with as positive a demeanor as London had to take note. Even she seems affected by the mood of the castle.

[She sits in her neat and ornate room on the window nook and stares out at the scenery beyond the glass.]

So, I was just wondering why everyone seems so gloomy and weird. And how come a bunch of people are missing? Did I miss something?

Hey. I ... I know I didn't really know any of you, but ... well ... it was a really awful first impression. And it wasn't - well. It was me, but it's not how I treat people here. My memory's a little fuzzy, but whatever I did to you, you didn't deserve it. Let me know how I can make it up to you. You can find me here:

[there's a map drawn to Casa de Guts down in town]

Has ... anyone out there heard from or seen Crowley? He's been gone about a week now...

[anyone who comes looking for Gale will find him in the yard outside, tilling up some of the front lawn for a garden]

[There was a shriek.]

[a pause and the sound of rapid breathing and fists beating on the glass like cover of the cryotube, the sound of release of the stasis compression, and lastly a body falling hard to the floor.]

[Soft sounds that eventually resolved themselves into words...no...a word. The word grew into a terrified whisper as the sound of feet scrambling on a floor rose. Unfamiliar with the layout of the basement of the old Peace Patrol headquarters, turning, seeking, lost.]

[The word was the only clarity in the sounds, all else seemed like half crazed desperation to move, to get out, like a trapped rat.]

[The word was the last thing spoken, that single thing, a word, a name.]

[His eighth birthday. His eighteenth birthday. He should have been getting ready to graduate and preparing college exams. But intead, he was still trapped in this same situation.

Nearly two years trapped in the castle like this without ever aging. Nearly three years since the day at Tropical Land. Since his life as Shinichi Kudo had ended and he had been forced to take on the identity of a child.

Three years of lying to everyone about everything. Three years of hiding his intelligence and constantly being condescended to.

Nearly a year and a half since he had last seen Ran.  Did she still cry over him?  Stupid Shinichi who had run off after a mystery and disappeared?  Did she worry about him? Had she given up on him?

No, Conan didn't see anything about this birthday worth celebrating at all. Especially not with everything that had happened afterwards.

But even when all he wanted was to brood in his misery, he still had an act to perform. No matter how much he hated it.]

How is everyone doing?  Is everyone recovering from the incident with the spaceship? Luke? Dairine?

Speaking of that, are there plans yet on what to do with the wreck?

[And with that said, Conan sets off for the library. Maybe burying himself in the world of Holmes again would improve his mood.]
