Nepeta: Be brave.

[The sounds and shadows in Nepeta's cave room were becoming a bit much, so now she's roaming around the halls with her hands tightly gripping her journal. Just in case. After all, if one of her teammates or friends needs her help, she wants to be ready!

It has nothing to do with her being scared. She's no scaredy cat!

When she speaks, she tries her best to sound confident. She's a fearsome huntress, after all.]

Not having the sun isn't so bad, but some of the other stuff going on is just plain creepy!

If anyone wants some company, I would not mind being that company. I know that some people might be scared, but it's okay! I am sure this will all go away soon. Just let me know! And you can make it private, too, in case you don't want others to know you are scared. . . . .

[Her voice trails off at the end, and her footsteps come to an abrupt halt. Nepeta makes the tiniest noise of uncertainty. DOES ANYONE HEAR THAT? No? It's just her?

Her footsteps pick up the pace.]

Anyone at all! I'm not picky!

[And that's when she hears the creepiest, most frightening sound of all:

HONK.

Aaaaand she shrieks.]

[And here's a familiar face, having rigged a lantern to the end of her staff, carrying it at an angle slung over her shoulder, candle in it steady. Her ears shoot up fast and hard the second she hears that, turning them to the sound's source, looking around, alert and cautious. That other hand clenches into a fist instinctively, just in case she's got to slam a bitch.]

Who's there? Is everyone okay?

[OH GOOD. A familiar voice! Nepeta's quick to reply to it.]

It's just Nepeta!

[Where is Alleyne? She's squinting into the darkness around her, eyes not having caught sight of the lantern yet. She should hurry to find her. Alleyne might be scared!]

[A few feet down the hall, a door opens up and Rose sticks her head out, looking irritable. She is still holding the novel she was quite engrossed in before being interrupted by the scream.

When she sees Nepeta, however, her face softens.]

Are you alright, Nepeta?

[Whirling around, Nepeta can now see another familiar face. She hurriedly scurries toward Rose, putting her brave face on again.]

Oh, hi Rose! Um, yeah! Of course I'm alright! Why wouldn't I be?

[radiantwingedone]

[ That shriek is particularly shrill, and the lines of light in the shapes of letters about Duke flare up bright as he jumps at the sound, turning toward where he's fairly sure it came from - It might be where the echo returned from, but the flickering golden light of his spell fades a moment after. ]

... Do you need aid? [ More lines join the already formed ones - he's ready to help whoever it is who screamed - ... even if he's not sure where exactly they are. ]

[It takes her a moment before she responds, wanting to get her wits about her once again. Gotta be brave gotta be brave...]

I don't think so. Do you need aid?

[Shiki's very much in her candle-filled room, very much not going anywhere when she hears Nepeta's shriek, and she flails massively.]

Nepeta?? What's wrong?? What's going on??

[Give her a moment, Shiki! The honks... they're following her...]

Nothing! Nothing's going on! Hi! How are you? Are you okay?

[shoosh]

[ hrrrgghhh guilt. his team is just falling apart all over the place. in what is probably a clear lack of intelligence, he approaches her from behind and taps her on the shoulder. ]

[It'd been nice to hear some friendly voices and maybe even help them calm down a bit--in reality it was her that needed some calming!--and she was starting to push away any sounds that made her jump. But this? She was not expecting at all.

The instant she's tapped Nepeta shrieks in alarm once again, leaping forward and away from whatever just touched her oh god oh god what is--]

[When she's far enough away to turn and see what is out to get her, her eyes widen in surprise and relief to see that it's only Karkat.

She exhales a rather big sigh of relief.]

Oh! Karkat, it's only you!

[ Feferi wasn't really afraid of anything that was happening, in fact she's trying to )(-ELP everyone! So hearing that shriek she will be coming to your aid!! ]

Nepeta! Are you there?

[Oh oh! That's definitely not a scary sound at all! Nepeta's turning around to try and find Fef.]

Yes, I'm here! I can hear you! Where are you?

Yes, but I'm kind of creeped out by all the noises that I'm hearing. They're scary.

[Lo! Is that the voice of his (pseudo) little sister in distress?!]

[HONK. And a very tiny shrill of fear.]

Nepeta, stop all this wailing and noise pollution, you are acting like a scared little ninny. Express to me your exact location and exercise no further forms of locomotion so I may promptly find you.

I'm not a scared little ninny! I'm just trying to make sure that everyone is safe so I can help them not be scared.

[And then softly] Let me find a door so I know what floor I am on...

[She would expect nothing less from a god tier! Nepeta turns around a bit before she sees Aradia and those pretty wings of hers.]

Hi Aradia! I'm just fine! [Even if she's shaking a little]

[that shriek is right in time with Ray coming around the corner, proton pack on, PKE meter in hand. he freezes and holds up his hands]

Whoa, easy, it's just me -- Nepeta, you okay, kiddo?

Mr. Ray! [She exhales a sigh of relief at the fact that it's him, and not another scary looking shadow.] I'm okay, I just thought I heard something, that's all!

[But now she's eyeing those doo-dads he's got with him.] What's that?

[Oh shit. So many people are freaked out (and so is he, a little) but he recognizes her voice.]

[Nepeta brings the journal closer a bit, clearing her throat so she sounds a bit more confident.]

Yep! I'm definitely alright! Hehe, I just thought I heard something. But I didn't! So I'm okay.

Uh, Nepeta, are you, okay? I...

[He stops suddenly and makes a very quiet, distressed sound.]

I don't think, uh, that I would mind, company, today. If, that is, you wanted my company. It might be nice to not be, alone today.

[Upon hearing Tavros, immediately she's putting on a more brave sounding tone than she's taken with others.]

I always want your company, silly! Don't you worry. As soon as I figure out what floor I am on, I race to your room! Um, as best as I can, though. It is purrty dark.
