[Today will find Spike in the library, piles and piles of books about dragons in front of him as he tries to find some answers the castle doesn't seem to want to give him. His journal is open beside him as he dictates into it]

Man, there are no books in the library telling you how to be a dragon. It's all about dragons being evil and stealing princesses and stuff. What is with that? I mean, who'd tie some girl to a stake and say 'oh this'll get rid of the dragon, this is what he wants'. That doesn't make any sense. Nothing here paints dragons in a good picture at all, and I know I'm not the only dragon that doesn't want to stomp around eating people. It sucks.

[Siiiiigh] And I'm gonna have nightmares about this George guy for the rest of my life. Thanks for that, Paradisa.

[Page flip. Silence] Wait. Dragons have a year? What's that about? Are dragons supposed to be doing something special this year or something? Because I don't want to miss out on that.

I tried to see if there were any books on the weather in Paradisa, but I couldn't find any in the library at all. [His tone very much suggesting that him not being able to find a book is UNHEARD OF. It's one of those skills he's very proud of] There doesn't seem to be any books on Paradisa itself at all. It's really weird.

It's an Asian thing- well, mostly Chinese. We have a Zodiac with 12 different animals and it's a different one each year. People born in certain years have certain traits, or so they say anyway.

So yeah, this year is the year of the Dragon. Last year was the year of the Rabbit and the year before that was the Tiger.

...Also dude, you're looking in the entirely wrong books if you ask me.

Well, you'd know all about that, wouldn't you? You've probably got books in your room about the best place to stab dragons or how to put their heads on walls.

...What are the dragon traits? [Hey, you may be a monster but you offer some insight on that subject]

Maybe whoever picks the books in the library just has a thing against dragons.

But a library should be full of facts, telling both sides of a story. If it just has one opinion, then it's not fair on anypony else.

Besides, who picks the books? I've never seen a librarian in here.

Well, I know the Chinese in my world see dragons as not so evil, I believe. They were more benevolent from what I've read.

But yes, the common picture is that dragons are big, mean, people-eating machines. Not literally machines, but you get the idea.

And they made this year of the dragon thing, right? [Obviously he needs to move to China]

But we're not all like that. ...Okay, so sure, most of the dragons in my world are kind of...mean, but I know there has to be some nice ones too. There just has to be.

That is not altogether surprising. There is no reason for it to provide us with information about itself.

Granted, Toothless may not be able to express it verbally, but he's a smart cookie none-the-less. Also, giving a quiet, curious trill behind Spike when he sees those books, particularly the ones with illustrations of dragons.]

[Someone also happens to be in the library, sitting at a nearby table and consulting medical tomes, particularly in the C-section (no pun intended) for such terms as 'Concussion' and 'Coma'.

He spots the little dragon with the broad eyes, and peers fixedly, wondering what it is. Whatever it is, it's cute. And unbeknownst to most people, Edgeworth had a bit of a weakness for cute things. He absentmindedly reaches into his satchel... Maybe he could offer it a snack...]

[Spike's still pouring over all his piles of books, but gets that being watched feeling and turns his head to squint at Edgeworth a little]

[Why are you staring at me like a massive creeper?]

Still no luck, Spike? [ Have a sympathetic expression. Though, truthfully, she did want to read them too. So it also sucks for her. ]

[Galadriel spends a lot of time in the library and it's not exactly startling to see a resident with books piled around him. A tiny, cute purple dragon is startling, though. Enough to get her to stop and stare for a second before she remembers her manners.]

I must confess, you are unlike any dragon I have yet met.

[Spike turns to look at her, flashing her a grin]

That's me, I'm totally unique!

Writers often rely on symbolism. A rampaging dragon makes a terrific allegory for quite a few things.

[Durge is wandering about the library, looking for more information on alchemy. He hadn't arrived with any reference books, so he'd have to start again with whatever he could find here.

Crossing the path of a dragon isn't what he expected, certainly.

Actually, he wouldn't quite have realized Spike is a dragon had he not overheard him call himself that as he approached.

Regardless, have this guy staring at you speculatively]

[Steve is stopping in to grab some books. He is fully expecting a nice, normal day... then he spots a bunch of books and a dragon behind them. Well he's read enough books to know he should probably slowly move away but, at the same time it looks adorable. How often does someone get the chance to see a dragon even in a magic castle....

While all this is going through his head, Spike is getting stared at by one very unsure tiny human being. Sorry about that Spike?]

[Why do people stare at him? Whyyy? He frowns turning to squint at Steve]

If everypony keeps staring at me when I'm out here I'm gonna start developing some sort of anxiety issue.

[ When she had spotted the many piles of books stacked together in one spot of the library Ai had her hands full with a fair few books herself. The majority of them were about chemistry, her field of work, with the exception of one being a book of short stories. Pausing in her wanderings to get a closer look she managed to look around one of the piles to see Spike.

Her eyes went wide for a moment as it registered that she really was looking at a dragon. A little one. Most likely a baby.

And then it clicks. ]

Is your name "Spike"?

[Spike has a moment where he considers absolving himself of ALL BLAME for whatever it is she might be blaming him for, regardless of if he actually did it or not.

But instead he settled on a wide grin]
