Aziraphale said that the Tree of Knowledge in the Garden of Eden had more than just one apple on it. What would happen if an apple had been taken from the Garden by man before God closed it off?

I'm going to take away that angel's books.

Not a lot, I mean, humankind would already have the Knowledge of Good and Evil after Adam and Eve got it. It became one of those...genetic things. Of whatever. That or they'd get a double dose.

I didn't really get the chance to try it out a second time. What with that whole 'putting enmity between you and woman and her offspring' and all that. People just didn't trust talking snakes after that.

[Ignoring that last question, mostly because he himself is a barrel full of questions... and because now he's suddenly hyper-aware that this Biblical stuff could be more than just stories in a book. If it's true, he's talking to the Serpent himself!]

I see. But is there a possibility that one Apple give different knowledge than the first? Why would God make many if they all served the same purpose?

I dunno, I mean, it's the sort of dickish thing He'd do. But I just did the tempting, I didn't test the chemical composition of the apples or anything. It was a quick get up there and do the job sort of deal.

What if people were naturally tempted by it? Or maybe after you tempted Eve, others remained tempting.

Yeah, sure, I mean. They don't look special. It's not like they have 'Knowledge Fruit' tattooed on them or anything.

No, but you can tell me why this has got you so het up. The Knowledge Tree is a personal thing, I don't like the idea of anyone messing with it.

I haven't seen the Tree, let alone "messed" with it. I was just curious.

No... he means to use it to open something called the Vault. Something about a Prophet and a "Floating City"? I do not know what any of it means, but he has killed many people to get there. That canaglia speaks in rhymes.

That...makes bugger all sense to me, too, to be honest. That said, Hell doesn't really like me being involved in their big plans all that much. Kind of an outcast. So they could have been keeping that little tidbit from me.

Perhaps I should go back to Aziraphale for that, then...
