Oh, yes! The leaders of the village are called Hokage. Those are their faces carved into the rock.

Well, that makes sense. Hokage, hmm? Are they good leaders?

I haven't read up on all of them yet, but I imagine they must be to earn the respect of trained fighters such as these ninjas.

Well, do they have to really respect them? I mean, you don't really get to choose your leaders, right?

No, I don't suppse they have to respect their leaders. But I think many people do.

Oh, I'm sure it must be nice to be able to. [She's asked Mother about the leader of the nearby kingdom, back home... The place she can barely see from her window where the lights come from. She was always dismissive on the manner, so Rapunzel assumed they weren't very good at what they did.]

I take it the leaders in your world leave something to be desired?

Well... I think so. I've never really been to the kingdom.

Oh. My world's progressed a bit beyond monarchy. We have a prime minister who is voted into office.

Oh, yes. Many societies choose their leaders.
