[It's Tuesday, Paradisa, and that means two things: the first is that The Four Seasons Room is in beach mode, and the second is that Mistress's dulcet tones are ringing through the journal. She seems genuinely pleased.]

This beach is marvelous. We don't have shores like this in my kingdom, where everything is bright and warm and pleasant. Even if one journeys to the ocean itself, the waters are rough and the beaches are rocky. Tell me, subjects, are places like this common in other worlds? Do people really live there?

Oh, and do feel free to join me here!

[Which is something you may or may not actually want. Because what does a woman whose normal attire consists of a string bikini wear to the beach?

The answer is nothing but some very artfully applied sand and shells. She has to match the room, of course.]

Those are fun too, but they lack the sense of accomplishment.

I would have found you eventually -- you're too pretty to hide. But would you be here now? Probably not.

And considering my feeling about this place, probably not. I don't come here much.

[Mistress just smirks.] Oh no, you're very pretty. A lovely little unpolished ruby. [THESE ARE COMPLIMENTS, TAKE THEM, WASH]

So, you see? You've benefited from this relationship already. A lounge on the beach isn't hurting you.

... That is a comparison I've never seen applied to me.

The only thing it could hurt is my image.

Maybe because you keep yourself hidden in that bulky suit of armor. And don't be silly, there's no one here to see you.

Why would being on a beach hurt your image at all?

Because I'm not your typical beach person. It'd ruin the tough image I cultivate.

Ah, of course. Whatever would you do if someone thought you were capable of enjoying yourself?

It's funny, I've always thought that toughness was defined mostly by one's ability to destroy things, not by level of misery.

But my world places a great deal of importance on fun.

"Bringing in"? I think you vastly overestimate my interest. Consider me an impartial but sympathetic sounding board.

Been declared a traitor by a friend for doing the right thing, because he didn't like it. That's all.

Oh, well, that's tragic. Was "the right thing" right for you and wrong in general, or was it just wrong for him?

Wrong in his eyes. Maine has been on good behavior for 2 months now. No reason I should keep his equipment hidden.
