-2 Woolongs~ Dictated

[For the moment, Faye is sitting in her room in the castle, curled up on the window nook. Her journal is in front of her, her fingernails tapping lightly on the cover as she stares blankly out the window. With a sigh, she flips open the journal, looking at a blank page before speaking.]

If anyone out there knows how the other me got home, don't hesitate to fill me in.
I know I was originally destined for riches and all, but I just need to get out of this castle.

Where do people live in this place if they don't live in the castle?

[Which got her to thinking.]

[Yeah, right. Even if he's been meaning to keep an eye on her before she falls into bad habits, he knows better.]

Just wanted to get it on paper.

Well, now it's in two books. Does that work for you?

So where are you, Mr. Invisible?

[He could continue to be obnoxious, as he's inclined to be, but things with Faye still feel weird. It's like he keeps expecting all her memories to come back mid-conversation and ruin that clean slate he's been enjoying.]

I was headed for the castle.

[He was being surprisingly straightforward. Even though it still didn't answer her question. She'll keep being nice, so as not to derail his information train.]

And then...?

[Enjoy it while you can, Spiegel.]

[It takes some effort on his part to answer somewhat honestly, even if he's hoping that he'll say something that will satisfy her enough to move on.]

I haven't thought that far ahead.

[No such luck, Spike-o. Really, he should know these things.]

So what I'm hearing is that you don't know where you're going. Nothing new there.
Does that mean you have no idea where you are right now, or are you just not in the mood for company?

[He's got a feeling he knows where this is going, and it won't be good for him.]

That would be unusual for me.

[Did Faye just let the cat out of the bag? Oops.]

Yeah, you never were very entertaining.

Times must really be desperate.

[Well, you could say that.]

Look, I already said I wasn't gonna try and move in or anything.
Living with you was too much of a pain.
[She may mean that in more ways than one.]

[He sighs to himself, because she was right that he really isn't up for company. At the same time... he's seen what she does when she goes looking for her own.]

I can meet you in the lobby.

[Although it does defeat the purpose of using him as an excuse to get out of the castle, she'll take it for now. But for some reason, the fact that he finally agreed to meet her gave her butterflies.]

... When?

[All the same, he'd rather not share all his hideouts just yet. Besides, he really was on his way there.]

Five or ten minutes.

Alright.

[She pauses briefly before flipping her journal closed.]

[This was definitely wasn't a great idea, but he keeps his word. Spike comes into the castle a few minutes later, hunched over himself, and looking a lot like he's trying to disguise the fact that he was almost killed once or twice in the past week. The bruises on his face have started to heal though, so he might be able to pull them off as bad lighting.

He collapses into the first couch he sees and immediately reaches for his cigarettes. It's like no time has passed at all.]

[Faye had been a little on edge after trying to decide what to do for the next ten minutes. She thought about going to wait for him, but thought better of it.

She walks slowly down the stairs, and arrives in the lobby in time to see him there on that couch. She makes her way over to him almost hesitantly, feeling her heart pounding into her throat and her breathing get a little shaky. Taking a deep breath, she forces herself into composure. By the time she's standing before him, she barely considers herself presentable, although she's hiding it better than she thinks.]

Oh, good. You're not dead.
[Although her tone is ripe with sarcasm.]

[With everything Spike has on his mind, he hadn't given enough thought to how he'd react to seeing Faye again. Every time he thinks will be the last, she comes strolling down the stairs like he should have been expecting her all along. Sometimes she has even worse luck than he does.

He lowers the cigarette and lifts his head at her greeting.]

You never can be sure. There's a lot of ghosts around here.

[That gets a scowl out of her. Did he have to be such a jerk?]

Maybe I should pinch you, just to be sure.

[Without waiting for a rebuttal, she throws a punch at his upper arm. A pinch was an idea, but it wasn't big enough to express her frustration.]

[He wasn't expecting it, especially not so close to somewhere he was recently stabbed. Both of which makes his reaction a little louder and more animated than usual.]

Hey. What was that for?

[Faye can't think of a reason not to have punched him. It was for running off and dying like he did back home. It was for being so scarce when she'd arrived here. It was for all that smart-ass talk about dying; for the smart-ass talk in general. It was for his stupid hair that just makes her want to run her fingers through it. Hell, it was for the fact that there wasn't a coffee table there to set his cigarettes on so she could steal one. Crossing her arms, she perches on the far end arm of the couch.]

I was just making sure.

[Somehow, his reaction when she punched him prevents her from being even angrier. If she weren't so pissed, it would have been hilarious.]

[Spike frowns, but he doesn't throw a fit for the undeserved -- at least, as far as she knows -- violence. It figures she'd hit him when he's actually being considerate and meeting her like she asked. Typical, even.]

Well now you know. [He sticks his cigarette in his mouth and folds his arms. Basically pretending that he doesn't understand what this is all about.]

[She really is appreciative that he decided to meet her, however, getting some of her pent up anger out of the way just seemed necessary. Besides, if he wasn't going to tell her where he was staying, she may not get a chance to do it before it all dissipates.

She peers over at him before speaking again.]

So what was that all about?

[He takes the cigarette out of his mouth before he responds, less irritably, but not without a hint of attitude.]

You're the one who punched me.

[Just go on and act like he doesn't notice the way she's looking at him. If she doesn't ask direct questions, he can avoid any subject he wants.]
