#002 - Cosmic Adventures

[Kara Zor-El is in Insolitus.

She's not quite lost -- no, she's not about to admit that yet -- but she's starting to think maybe she's become too reliant on her abilities. Here, in a maze that doesn't let her see through walls, it's a little tricky to stay "unlost", so to speak. But wasn't that adventure with Kal all those months ago supposed to teach her to not be too reliant on her abilities?

But hey, she's not lost yet.

She's just a little bit turned around in a maze of tunnels and ladders and all those things.

Hmm, what to do? She's sitting mid-way up a ladder with her journal to collect her thoughts.]


You know, what kind of castle keeps a giant evil jungle gym in its underbelly?

Like I-could-kick-your-butt powers. Superstrength, speed, all of it.

[whistles_the_blues]

[He goes quiet for a moment.]

Okay, prove it.

[He suddenly hopes for not the butt kicking part of that.]

[kryptonian]

[She looks at him.]

Gimme your hand.

[whistles_the_blues]

[He remains still for a moment. Debating whether or not to do it, then slowly raises a hand toward her.]

[kryptonian]

[She takes his hand as if to shake it, but instead lifts him up in the air by it, without any sign of physical stress.]

[A handshake? How does that prove an-Oh god, he's off the ground!]

[After the initial surprise though, he has to admit this is pretty cool.]

Well, you're just full of surprises aren't you?

[kryptonian]

[She grins and sets him down.]

Yeah, and I try not to introduce myself with "by the way, I have powers."

[whistles_the_blues]

[He can't help but feel a bit relieved once he's set down on the ground.]

I can certainly see why. You want to be able to blend in and be normal, right? Like you had suggested to me.

[kryptonian]

Exactly. It's just easier that way.

[whistles_the_blues]

Well, it's cool regardless. I think I'd just stand out more if I tried to hide what I am though.

I can take off the gauntlets but the leg parts are a bit harder to hide and well let's not even get into when I have core problems.

Still, I never would have guessed that you could do that.

[kryptonian]

True. I mean, I don't exactly hide what I can do, I just try to not let it be the first thing people see. It'd be a bit harder with robot legs, I'm sure, but if you can get people to see you for you first.. that's best.

When you put it that way, maybe I haven't been doing such a bad job at that so far. I have to try and avoid putting too much strain myself anyways.

[kryptonian]

Right –– we have all the time in the world. We can relax.

[whistles_the_blues]

Well, maybe we should find this room first? Then we can relax

[kryptonian]

Well, yeah, but I mean in general, in a place where we might be here for years, where we don't age or whatever...

Good point. I have to say from what I've heard of this place, I'm kind of relieved.

Apparently my core shouldn't deteriorate any further as long as I'm here. I don't think I could have struck it any luckier.

No kidding. You're good for an eternity now.

Not what I was expecting, but certainly not unwelcome.

Definitely.

I wish we knew where exactly to look for this room, though.

Are you trying to tell me you don't like wandering aimlessly through mazes for hours?

A hint or even a clue that we're going in the right direction would be nice right about now.

Not a huge fan, no.

I could normally cheat, but this place is weird.

The whole "Super Speed" thing not work in here?

[kryptonian]

Not when this place is seemingly infinite... I could just speed around for a zillion hours and run out of energy and get stuck somewhere. No, normally I can see through walls, but because this place looks infinite, something is blocking my sight.

[whistles_the_blues]

That just sounds inconvenient.

If this place has made it that hard to just to get to this room. Just makes me more curious as to what might be inside.
