#002 - Cosmic Adventures

[Kara Zor-El is in Insolitus.

She's not quite lost -- no, she's not about to admit that yet -- but she's starting to think maybe she's become too reliant on her abilities. Here, in a maze that doesn't let her see through walls, it's a little tricky to stay "unlost", so to speak. But wasn't that adventure with Kal all those months ago supposed to teach her to not be too reliant on her abilities?

But hey, she's not lost yet.

She's just a little bit turned around in a maze of tunnels and ladders and all those things.

Hmm, what to do? She's sitting mid-way up a ladder with her journal to collect her thoughts.]


You know, what kind of castle keeps a giant evil jungle gym in its underbelly?

[He's already on the move and out his door.]

Sixth floor, door called "Insolitus."

Got it.

[It doesn't take him long to get from the third floor to the sixth. He slowly peeks his head in through the door and glances curiously at the three tunnels.]

This doesn't look ominous at all. Well here goes nothing.

[He closes the journal and crouches down low to get into the middle tunnel.]

[ LOL she's just kidding.

Maybe not, though. ]

Wow, see how funny that is when I don't come home for dinner, and you all need to launch an expedition to save my butt.

If you don't come home for dinner, it's all going to the dogs.

[ Maybe that will encourage a speedy return! ]

But honestly, be careful. That place is worse than a House of Mirrors.

I haven't. Heck, I haven't even seen most of the castle yet let alone what's around it.

What's it like? Other then being an evil jungle gym.

I would totally not explore this place if I didn't have powers, it'd be way too easy to get lost. It's basically pitch black, except for the stars. Fake stars.

Huh? It's not literally a jungle gym –– mostly, anyway. It's that Insolitus place.

You mean the maze?

Well... yeah, but any place with random bottomless pits of balls might as well be closer to a jungle gym.

Need a hand, Supergirl? I could probably Hansel and Gretel my way to you. Grab a hold of something before I go into the maze, and just stretch my arm out until I find you? I could use the practice holding something for that long.

I think I'm good on that front, unless you really want the practice. Let's give it a shot!

I could use the practice. The longest I've ever gone was about 10 feet, so I wanna see how far I can push my powers like this. I'll expand an ear so I can listen for you, too. I'll be there as soon as I can.

[About an hour or so later, there's a gray skinned kid approaching, his right ear expanded so that it covers basically the whole side of his head, his left arm stretching off into the darkness of the maze. He's got a bit of sweat on his brow, his eyes glowing fiercely red with the effort of maintaining his arm at this length.]

Sorry I took so long. I lost your heartbeat once or twice, so I had to backtrack a few times.

[He's trying very hard to look cool, but it's obvious that Evan's tired, having pushed himself harder than he probably should have.]

[Kara waits -- paying attention with her own superhearing, of course -- and when she sees Evan, she smiles, though it's a concerned one.]

That's a pretty intense change from ten feet, Evan!

[She approaches him.]

Are you okay?

well in that case the answer is this kind of castle
we just had a group in there exploring a week ago actually
youd have been welcome to come with us!
