[Usually when Apollo doesn't see his husband for a few days it's because he's lurking around the town knocking out the teeth of anyone who dared to engage in criminal activity. So when a week went by without word, it didn't bother him. But as time went on he got increasingly more worried, until one day he decided to check for sure.

He really should have expected it. He's seen the way this place drags people in, only to eventually discard them. In time it was eventually going to be either the Midnighter or him. Selfishly, he just wished it would be him. A few hours later, after giving the news time to sink in-he wasn't brooding, he doesn't do that-he opens the journal to make the announcement.]

For those of you that knew him, the Midnighter has been sent back home. [There, short and sweet and right to the point. He didn't have the energy for anything more.]

[Apollo is lounging on his bed, looking quite comfortable, despite the fact that his feet hung off the edge. He has the journal open across his chest, but his eyes are closed. Those around him might mistake him for being asleep and get a shock when suddenly speaks.]

Did anyone actually go to camp as a kid? What was that like? I'm sure some of you have some interesting stories to tell.

[Outside the castle, any passing on-lookers will be treated to an interesting sight this morning. A young boy clad wearing a ridiulous yellow cape is standing outside and staring up at the sky with a frown. He seems to be concentrating hard on something, and when that doesn't work he'll start hopping up and curse every time his feet touch the ground.

Kid Apollo can't fly, and he's not very happy about that.]

Out of idle curiosity, how long after your arrival did your first loss happen? For those who have been on losses, of course. I know it tends to vary person from person, but I've been here for about nine months and haven't had one yet-not that I'm complaining!

And just for fun, for people who have had multiple losses, do you have a favorite? Or at least one that wasn't so bad.

[With that done he heads to the rec room. Anyone who happens to stumble in while he's there will find him playing an intense solo game of Wii Sports, and occasionally yelling at the TV when he messes up.]

[It felt like any other morning since he first woke up in the castle. The bed, the sheets, the annoying peak of sunshine that shown through the window curtains. He yawned and stretched, and finally squinted his eyes open and...suddenly it wasn't such a normal morning.

For starters, he didn't recognize the room. But he could tell it wasn't the one he shared with the Midnighter. Speaking of...he glanced over his shoulder to the other side of the bed.

Nope. Definitely not his husband. But someone he recognized from the expedition a few months ago. He reached out and tapped her shoulder gently.]

Um...miss? I think something weird is going on.

[On any given day it took a lot to get under Apollo's skin. He was too layed back for that; things bounced off him quick. But even he wasn't so layed back that he didn't have a few fears. Like not having sunlight for one. He's been in darkness before, even willingly sometimes, but always with the knowledge that the sun would be there when he needed it. Now...it was just gone. And Apollo has no way to get to it. It's very unsettling, but so far that seems to be the theme of the day.]

So, it's Friday the 13th and castle has a crappy sense of humor and a love for the ironic. Anyone want to make a bet how long this 'no sun' thing will last? Am I the only one worried that this might turn into something...permanent? [Just the thought made his voice a little shaky. What would he do if that happened?]

I hope every is managing okay in the dark. Though I wonder if anyone here is blessed with the ability to see in the dark. That seems like it would be the most useful right now.
