If anyone is interested in picking up a full time job somewhere, or even a few hours here and there, I could use some assistance over at the magic shop I run. Just about everyone else who used to work there is gone, so any and all help is appreciated. Oh, I'm Alvin by the way. You can contact me here or stop by the shop.

[Tim stares at his journal for awhile, contemplating all of the different things he has read and said in the past year he has been here. It still boggles his mind to think that he has been here for that long. So much has changed and yet there are other things that have remained the same.

When he had first arrived, if someone had told him he would still be here a year later, he would have been defiant and ignored them. These days, he's more comfortable with being here than he has ever been, and he's not sure how he feels about that.]

I remember last year's Valentine's Day was an introduction to how crazy this place could be. I think this year's Valentine's Day definitely one upped last year's in that regard. Hopefully, nothing toocrazy happened to anyone.

[All of that being said, there was one good thing that came out of all of the shenanigans from last year...]

[When Tim first donned a mask, he would often use it as an escape mechanism from his civilian life. As time went on, he also began to use his civilian life as a way to escape from his Bat life. These days, there haven't been too many reasons to wear a mask. The few times he has, the situations never resolved themselves in a way he found satisfactory.

Fortunately, he does have another identity here to turn to; Alvin Draper. Thinking about the year he has spent here, celebrating his first holiday with his father, and the life he has left behind is easier as Alvin Draper than it is as Tim Drake.]

Thanksgiving this year was different. Like, really, really different. At least for me, anyway. I mean, it wasn't different in a bad way--just different. I'm used to spending it at home with my family, loading up with turkey, and then playing video games until I pass out from a food coma.

This year, I spent it with my girlfriend and friends. It wasn't the same as back home, but it was still fun. The turkey I made turned out pretty good, too. There's barely any leftovers, so that's a good sign, right?

I have a feeling I'll be here for the rest of the holidays. Are there any Paradisa specific holidays that are celebrated here, or unique ones from different worlds?

dorkwonder: to the finish line. (From the perfect start)
[personal profile] dorkwonder
[Tim has been doing his best to gather as much information as possible on what's been going on. He has silently observed other entries that have been made (since "Alvin" would freak out and not say much in the way of helpfulness), taking notes, and trying to put the pieces of the puzzle together. Unfortunately in Paradisa, the castle always seems to hold a few key pieces of information hostage, and can completely alter reality at a whim. While such circumstances are not enough to deter him from investigating by any stretch of the imagination, they are enough to make him want to focus on something they can potentially control to some degree; safety.

Sets his detective mind aside for the moment, and focuses on what someone like Alvin would think of this situation.]

Okay, we need to do something about this situation and we need to do something about it fast! I have a sinking feeling that something else is going to happen sooner than later. We need to try and pool our resources to work together and keep one and other safe. Everyone should have someone they can touch base with regularly. Also, we need to create some kind of emergency system so we can quickly respond to someone who is in trouble. Maybe we can pick a couple of locations for all of us to stay in and rotate people in-and-out to stand guard.

[Tim stares at his journal for a good few minutes, trying to decide what to say or write. After spending nearly a month lost in a sea of research or working, his brain is having a hard time getting back into "social Alvin Draper" mode.

He browses some of his old journal entries to recharge his memory. After a few more minutes pass, an idea pops into his head. Maybe Cass' curiosity will lure her in to respond or she'll track him down to give him a look.]

So, hey. I've got a strange request--or at least it might sound strange! I promise it's not as strange as it sounds. In fact, it's a lot of fun.

When I first came here, I was running a pencil and paper game for my friends, using a D20 system. The game we were playing was Warlocks and Warriors. You pick a base class, draw up a character sheet, and then a storyteller guides you through stories. You roll the twenty sided die to help determine the outcome of different challenges. At one point, I had a group of three which is a good number for beginners. Unfortunately, two of the players went home. Well, that's not really unfortunate for them! But you know what I mean.

If anyone is interested in playing, I could teach you, or I'm sure my girlfriend, Stephanie Brown, would be happy to help. She also plays with me.

dorkwonder: (How does this keep happening?)
[personal profile] dorkwonder
What a month this has been, huh? I don't remember much of what happened earlier in the month. Everything after the first couple of days is a blur to me. I remember a lot of yelling, scribbling, and I think...I hurt someone. If I did, I'm really sorry.

[Sighs, and there's soft cooing in the background.]

At least the month is almost over with. I'd say "hopefully the next month will be better", but I don't want to tempt fate. Instead, I'm going to say I hope everyone's recovering and healing up. Speaking of which, I wanted to thank everyone who helped out with the recovery effort in the City and is still helping out.

From what I've seen and observed on the network and in person, I think the majority of people who need medical aid or are trapped have thankfully been attended to. Unfortunately, the same can't be said for the state of the city. Reminds me of what happened to the city I'm from, back home. It got hit by a huge Earthquake and it took years for it to recover.

Unlike back home, there are a lot of different people here, with a lot of different skills. Once people have had time to rest up and recover, would anyone be interested in putting together a habitat recovery team? Many of the citizens in the city are in need of supplies, too.

[Filter to Hermione.]

Hey, how are you holding up? I haven't had a chance to check out the store yet, have you? I'm going to head out there in a couple of hours.

[Filter to Kara, Cass, and Steph.]

Looks like another expedition is being planned. At this point, with my injuries, I'd only hold everyone back. Steph and Cass, the two of you should go on the expedition and collect as much information as you can.

Kara, will you stay here with me and help me with aiding the citizens and cleaning up the city?

If this place has an award for Klutz of the week, then I think I just won it. Probably stubbornness too. I need to wear glasses, but I don't like wearing them, so...given the chance to not have anyone to nag me to wear them, I took advantage of it. The stairwell and my balance gave me a painful reminder of why not wearing them is a bad idea. I dislocated my shoulder and sprained my wrist. [And by all of this Tim means he wanted to clear his mind, focus, and push himself by scaling one of the castle walls without any equipment.]

Lesson learned. I'll be wearing them from here on out. In the meantime, anyone want to play some board games or card games? Video games are kind of a pain when you can only use one hand. Plus, I've been meaning to try some of these out for awhile. I have Descent, Munchkin, Dominion, and Risk.

[As soon as Tim found himself suddenly transported to a strange new place, he scurried over to a shadow and began to gather intel. Wherever he went, a journal appeared at the area he was inspecting. After awhile he realized it was the same journal appearing over and over. So, he finally picked it up and began to read through it. The entries gave him a decent idea of what was going on. Combing the entries with the view of the sky made it obvious he was no longer on Earth. Tim was no stranger to the multiverse. He knew that the name “Wayne” was recognized in some of the alternative Earths.

When Tim finally dictates an entry of his own, his voice comes out sounding nervous and awkward. Instead of introducing himself as Tim Drake, the ward of multi-billionaire Bruce Wayne, he's Alvin Draper; confused high-school student.]

Okay, so I know there's the whole “be careful what you wish for”, but this is kind of overkill. And by “kind of”, I mean completely. I just wanted to get out of my Calculus test! A fire alarm or sneeze attack would have worked.

[His voice sounds increasingly nervous as he speaks.]

So, uh, my name is Alvin Draper and I'm not from around here. I don't even know if I'm from the same world as this place. This is what I get for wishing I was in all of those sci-fi novels I've read, huh? Ahaha. Seriously, I never going to wish for anything again. Anyway, um, if anyone could let me know what's going on here and how I get back home, that would be great. Thanks.

[ooc: Just as a side note, since Tim's father is in a coma and not dead in his memories, he currently thinks he's the ward of Bruce Wayne and not his adopted son.]

[Sound drifts through the journal, the rapid typing of keys on a keyboard as someone's at work on a computer. Then there's the short strangled sound of a very young baby who is just about to start fussing. A moment later and a sharp cry interrupts the steady noise. The sound of typing stops as Tim's voice comes through, quiet and soft and yet sounding... somewhat detached as he soothes the baby.]

Shhhh. Shhh, Jack, it's okay.

[It was the first name he thought of and it's drudge up a lot of thoughts about his own father, among other things. He knows how to take care of a baby and he doesn't have a normal sleep pattern anyway so this is nothing too hard to adapt to schedule wise. It's just... so surreal.

The baby quiets down, making occasional soft gurgling noises as the typing resumes again.

[Tim is not aware that his journal is lying open, writing at his desk in his room in his private journal (yes, he keeps a private non-magical journal just in case) and talking out loud to himself as he writes.]

I wonder if that counted as my first loss here... or was it just part of an event? I'll have to ask if other people have had their memories rewritten during an event before... Either way, I'm glad that's over with. Having my mind messed with isn't my idea of fun. Neither is wearing a dress. That's definitely going on my list of Most Embarrassing Moments of My Life. The first time I had to dress up as a woman, I'd hoped it'd be the last. At least there wasn't a fake chest this time, and I didn't get hit on constantly with Bruce listening to the whole thing. That was definitely more embarrassing than this was. Making a note to find the people I spoke with then and introduce myself properly. I don't want people to actually think I'm a maid or a princess or prince in disguise.

Well this is a... little disorienting. I swear I was back home but the length of time I was there is longer than the length of time I've apparently been unconscious here. Could chalk it up to time travel... but I'm not sure if I actually went home for a while or if I've been in the clinic since I believe I was bit by one of those things. I doubt all of that was a dream if I really have been here since then... [Because the broken arm and ribs plus other injuries he got from fighting Cricket sure as hell hurt like they were real.] Has something like that happened to anyone else?

Stephanie, I'm assuming you had something to do with how I got from my room to the clinic, since the last thing I remember was waiting for you to come back. Given the number of people in the clinic, I'm also assuming that the threat's been taken care of or an antidote has at least been made...? Or is something still attacking people? What have I missed?
