[It had been an interesting few days in town, but at Ray's behest, they had both decided for now to split up and explore in order to cover more ground. Sure they would be keeping in touch over their journals, but as far as Peter was concerned, he was flying solo for the time being. Or at least as solo as one can fly while being followed by a floating ball of gas with a face. He had found that his Gastly rather disliked being inside of its Pokeball, preferring to float about freely, as one would expect from a ghost; and Peter himself was far from cruel, so unless he was misbehaving, he opted to let his Pokemon do as it wanted, and it seemed to appreciate the gesture, cackling in its own mirthfully creepy way]

Gas, Gasgasgas~

Oh, is that so? Insightful commentary as always buddy.

[The Gastly cackled again and floated above Venkman's head, rolling lazily in the sunlight as the two continued down the path, the abundance of items and equipment Ray had poured on him before he had gone his own way jingling around his backpack. Perhaps such noise would attract a wild Pokemon, or even a hopeful Trainer looking to get stronger? Only time would tell how this little foray into the unknown would end]

[Noah wakes up to a...

[He has no idea what it is, but it's... cute?  And on fire. What in bloody hell?]

Agh.

[He winces and sits up. He's in a hotel room, and his chest bloody hurts. The book is there, open to the world.]

Bugger and fuck.

[In the background, there is a strange voice repeating itself.]

Charmander!  Char Char Char Char Char Char Char!

If this thing doesnae be quiet, I'm gonna choke it.

[ooc: he's waking up for the first time since this happened.  yup, slept through the flood and most of the poke-event.  have mercy on him.]

[Somewhere, on some route, Steph is enjoying a break. Away from the tall grass, because she's learned her lesson.]

I started out with some ghost-thing, and now I also have some snake-thing and a bat-thing. Spooky, Mr. Slithers, and... Bat. You'd think I'd be able to come up with something... whatever. Continuing on!

I thought the battling thing was sort of super disturbing at first, but they seem to really like it. Who am I to deny them their fun? We're a pretty good team, me and my purple pals.

Not that I'm bragging or anything.

[So Violet is still on her loss and fourteen; she's currently sitting in the lobby of the hotel with a Cubone on her lap. It's a terribly sad sight, both trainer and Pokemon feeling a little lost.]

So this is normal here? To suddenly end up places? I've never heard of this place or Pokemon before. And I seemed to have rescued something called a Cubone. I think it's looking for its mother.

I can relate. I guess my parents aren't here either. Or my siblings. [Cubone makes a noise and sort of just attaches himself to her. There's a pause while they try and console each other.]

I really am surprised at their ability to understand us. Their brain chemistry must be interesting.

For how we got here this odd little town is probably not the worst place we could have landed.

[ Did she actually say something positive about the place? Maybe. It was hidden in uncertainty. But regardless her pokemon - a Growlithe - gives a friendly bark in reply. A bark that isn't so appreciated ]

Oh, quiet you.

[ Christina's sat on a bench outside of the hotel - she hasn't gone exploring since they arrived other than the shops already around, and unless she gets a good reason to she might not ]

At least a city, even with as weird as some of the things here are, is recognisable - and friendly enough.

[ Though at being ignored, and sort of apologetic for barking even if it was friendly, her Growlithe lays its head against her leg, looking up at her. Yeah, she's got nothing, what is owning a pet? ]

Any guesses on how long it'll last before I get comfortable?

[the journal opens today with a nice exchange between a girl and her Pokemon bears]

Look, Bashful, I finally found you a friend!

Ursa...?

It's okay, don't be shy. His name is Sneezy.

Cubchoo! [it seriously does sound like the thing is sneezing]

I hope you two will get along.

[the voice is irritated, clipped in tone and has a British accent.]

Right, well, if anyone gets this message-- and I'm certain I'm being monitored here, unless I really have finally jumped ship and gone mad-- I'd appreciate some knowledge on what is going on. Nice welcome brochure, maybe a lovely orientation dinner. That would be grand.

[Princess Luna is having a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. First, some brash young trainer finally decided to challenge the trainer-less shiny Rapidash. The kid's Pidove backed down quickly enough at her imperious look, but the Bidoof decided to take her on. After a few minutes of dodging, she finally bucked it right back to its trainer. This, unfortunately, started a sort of scramble as watching trainers decided that maybe she really doesn't belong to anypony. Surely the ruckus would've brought her trainer out. Who the hell leaves a shiny Pokemon just wandering around anyway?

So the succession of battles started. She quickly learned not to give any leeway to the small helpless looking Pokemon after the first few shocks and attempts at drowning her. And she was never particularly good at retreating, so she stayed, hoping that they'll get the message sooner or later. However, between stomping, bucking, physically shoving the bigger Pokemon, and wielding the weird fire magic like a whip (Flamethrower? What's that?), she was eventually getting worn down. Cursed non-alicorn body.

And finally, the last straw occurred as she was bucking a particularly annoying Dewott in the face. Its trainer decided that it was prime time to try throwing a pokeball and whoosh, she disappeared inside it. A few seconds later, she reappeared, rearing and generally freaking out. Losing your physical form and getting trapped inside a spherical object? Yeah, those weren't exactly great memories for her.

Vehemently crushing the pokeball under her hooves, she finally charged at the trainer and the gaggle of spectators, sharp horn lowered and completely engulfed in flames. They frantically dove out of her way and she disappeared into the brush, leaving behind the scorched battlefield of what used to be a lawn.

SO TL;DR: She's currently trying to hide in the wooded area of the park, though it's kinda hard when you've got a white coat and fire for a mane and tail. She's also pissed, hungry, tired, and bruised, but at least she's no longer freaking out as much. Stupid bucking terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day.]

[fact: Route 4, outside Castelia City, is home to a certain species of Fire-type Pokémon.

fact: Fire-type moves are effective against Bug-types.

fact: Sayaka's starter is
a Bug-type.

pretty obvious where we're going with this, no? After having their butts thoroughly handed to them and one too many trips to the Pokémon Center, the duo of fail finally decided on taking a break. What should they find but...]

A Gym, specializing in Bug-types?

[she looks at the sign outside the hive-like building, then at her tiny companion] Maybe they know how to help you become stronger.

[ Anybody passing across Skyarrow Bridge, a large suspension bridge connecting Castelia City to the Pinwheel Forest, will find a little blond girl near the foot of the Castelia side.

She seems bored out of her mind, sitting barefooted on the outer edge of the bridge with a fishing pole in her hands. She occasionally brings the line out of the water, showing an orange fish Pokémon - a Magikarp - dangling from it. Then, with a sigh, she lowers it back into the water.

After quite a long while, she finally opens her journal and speaks into it. ]

I normally don't fish. Because it's boring. But this rod was on sale, and I had the extra cash, so I bought it.

So tell me, fishing aficionados, how exactly are you supposed to catch anything? The Pokémon over here are not biting.

[ Then, in a smaller voice, mostly to herself- ]

It might be the bait. Are Magikarp too disgusting even for other Pokémon to want?

[Dairine is chillaxing in Nimbasa City after a fascinating trip over to White Forest. Her party, including her newly caught Aron, are taking a well deserved break from their hard day’s work.]

You know, I never would have imagined I’d end up doing the trainer routine. But it seems exploring around here without getting into fights is practically impossible.

Still, there are some amazing things out here! The terrain is so diverse. I’ve already gone through a large desert, thick forests, steep cliffs… Today I visited White Forest, where the trees have these neat twisted trunks, and the Marvelous Bridge—which is apparently “marvelous” because it has an elevator leading to the road. And I’ve barely scratched the surface of this place!

Aron…

Yes, short stuff.

Oh! I found Spot, by the way. He was in my hotel room with the rest of my stuff. Turns out he’s been changed into a Pokédex this time. Not sure how he feels about it, but at least he can still talk to me like this, even if he’s limited to Pokémon data.

[Now that she’s gotten that out of the way, Dairine is going back to petting her Aron, who's climbed onto her lap mid-post.]

You're just like a little mobile, aren't you?
