[Guess who has found her way to the roof? Perfect place for brooding, as long as you get the right time slot. Luckily, it seems she has, because she has had it all to herself for the last hour as she finishes reading the last few pages of the journal from before.
Six months worth.
They told her - the veterans, the possible enemies, the hopeful friends. Read. Read back and see what you can glean. So Katniss had done just that, spending her days in silence as she read back to when they all received these new journals. Past the world changes, past the battles, past the terrors and tears. She read about all these strangers that were no longer here, and all the new faces that she saw almost every day. She read about Peeta, and Gale, Rue and Cinna. She read about Johanna, and felt her chest clench a little as she wondered if she was still here.
She read about Finnick, about Haymitch, and about Prim, and she felt her chest even more.
Then she read about herself.
It seemed odd, like she was looking at herself from the outside in. She saw so many choices reflected in her - ones that she would have made again, and others ... well. With time sometimes comes wisdom. If she had known then what she knew now -- but you couldn't go back. You could only go forward.
So here she was. So she would go forward, because to do anything else was to let herself go mad again.
She opened the journal to the first blank page, and started to write.]
( Filtered to Panem, even Clove, except Rue )
( Filtered to Peeta )
( Filtered to Gale )
( Filtered to Rue )
( Filtered to all old friends of Katniss Everdeen )
[And now ... now she speaks freely. Letting her words dot along the page, like animal prints.]
This place is poison. It always has been, and it always will be.
[She's quiet for a moment, pushing dark hair away from her narrowed eyes, before she speaks again.]
But sooner or later, you build up a tolerance, for poison. For every dark, evil thing. I know. I have. I let it dull me into compliance, because all I wanted was to survive. Then I woke up. And I'm awake now. I've been awake, for awhile now.
[She pauses, stalled, because words ... words were not as easy as tracking. As hitting a clean shot through a bird's heart. Still, she makes her words continue.]
I am not going to survive here. I am going to live. And the first step to that? Know my enemy. So I'm going to walk this castle. I am going to walk that town, that forest. Then I am going to walk that Dead Zone. Because every step, every new fact, is one more step to being alive, and not just breathing to breath.
[Okay. Just a few more words. Just a few more.]
And I'm starting, right now. You want to come, find me on the roof.

[Wheatley is lounging about in GLaDOS's room, doing his best to try to keep the psychotic woman from murdering all of you her relaxed. As time consuming as a job like that is, he finds himself to be incredibly... well, lonely. Especially when your only company can barely keep a conversation with you because of the voices tormenting her mind. His voice sounds absolutely exhausted and out of breath. This guy hasn't slept in days...]
D-do you want to know what's really difficult?
Making friends.
And-and I don't mean those fair weather types you humans keep talking about. Wh-what are they called again? Acquaintances? Right right, that's it.
...I mean... well, actual friends. Don't know how you humans can have so many.
And...
[Give him a moment as he slowly inhales, to try to get a train of thought going. All he could think about was sleep...]
Would any of you know any... uh, suggestions... for helping people... wh-who might hear voices in their heads? Maybe? A friend of mine can't sleep and she's...she's... really, really having a hard time here.

He's been feeling kind of down in between his excitement at all the new things here, so he put on one of his favorites - Gladiator - to try and cheer himself up. It isn't working. Instead, it made him realize what's been missing. Julio. Julio who shows him movies and yells at him when he does something stupid and yet always forgives him. It's been a month now. He's in Julio-withdrawal.
And it means instead of eating popcorn and enjoying Russell Crowe's rather excellent dialogue delivery, he's hunched up on one of the arm chairs glumly, boots shed something on the floor - 'No shoes on the furniture, 'Star' - and his journal tucked next to him. Of course, in the quixotic nature of the journals, it's decided to catch the words he says to nobody in particular, with the background of swords clashing from the film]
I miss you.

Instead of a book however, it seems he wished up a laptop at some point and appeared to be playing some sort of game on it. A co-op game apparently, if the headset he's relaying instructions through is any indication.]
...Alright, I've crafted a set of stone pickaxes for us, along with a sword each. This should be enough for a short foray into the mines for materials. Stay close to me and keep an eye out for Creepers.

[So sometimes the castle decides a person is spending too much time with themselves. It's in those instances that it decides to do something about it. Today, it is working it's magic on Tess Mercer.
She was walking through the lobby, trying get out to town so she can get some work done, when all of the sudden she's ... stuck. As in her feet just won't move, at all. She tries taking off her shoes, tries going backwards, but any way she tries to slice it, she's not going anywhere. Sighing heavily, she reaches into her bag and pulls out her journal.]
( [Friends] )
[And with that she'll just have to wait. And talk to whoever happens to come along. Which may have been the castle's plan all along.
Think about that.]
[ACTION is open to all! The castle is going to keep her stuck there until she talks to a certain number of people, but it's not all that clear on what the number is, so she'll probably be there all day. Also, if you think you're on the friends filter, you probably are.]

So many people have gone away recently that it seems like it's hard to stay in a good mood, even with nice weather and carnivals. But it's probably a lot worse for all of those who are kinda new around here. In either case I think it helps to do activities that made you happy back home.
What would you normally do during the summer? It's almost over, after all.

Aug. 31st, 2012 10:02 pm[ Hello, Paradisa! Have one little half-elf suddenly sitting on his butt, very frazzled, in the middle of the Lobby, head turning this way and that, taking in the sights.
He looks confused; as though he's not used to being alone. He doesn't see the open journal beside him, not at all, still awestruck by this castle. It was clear that the child wasn't used to such places- he had been to a castle before, but he felt terribly out of place... and he still did. ]
... Guys?
Hey, guys, where are you? [ He pauses for a moment, before letting out a short bark of a very sarcastic laugh. ] Okay, this isn't funny, you know.
[ Soon after, he notices the journal by his side, picking it up, reading the words... wait. He had just said that! ]
What's going on here?

[Alan's done a lot of thinking since Sam's departure from the Castle. He's had a lot of time to himself, especially after Flynn and his younger doppelganger went on the expedition together. The programmer has been spending a lot of time trying to perfect alterations to the Castle Evacuation plan and Code Blair now that he has so much free time. It's very quiet.
So he doesn't expect a jolt of static from a Shinx who somehow made its way out of its Pokeball.
It does, however, help to get him out of his funk - at least for today. He leaves his room for something other than food and heads outside, settling on a bench near a tree that his Shinx immediately begins to attempt to climb.]
Soon it will be fall again. Huh. [Time certainly passed quickly - so much had happened!]
What are the odds of another sea of leaves?

Very well, I will forgive you if you come out of hiding -- but it must be done quickly! I will only forgive you for.. three more minutes!
