[while everyone else on the castle grounds is probably getting ready for the expedition, anyone around the duck pond will notice something straight away: a man breaks the surface of the water with a screech:]

--- IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIKKKKKKE!

[he coughs, splutters, and gasps for air for a moment, then looks around, wide-eyed]

I'm alive! ... I'M A-LI-HI-HIIIIIIIIIIIVE.

[he throws back his head and laughs maniacally. as he's doing so, Pickles the alligator pops up beside him and regards him critically. dude, cut it out.]

AHA-HA----

[his head snaps to one side dramatically, and he has half a second of "oh SHIT" plastered on his face before Pickles snaps at him. down he goes ....

... only to surface moments later riding the alligator like a bronco]

YEEEEEEEEE-ha! Yippie ki-yay, Crocodile Dund--

[he stops, still sitting on Pickles' back, and frowns]

Waaaaaaait a second. You're not a crocodylus niloticus, you're --

[splash. Pickles throws him off and they're at it again. a little more thrashing and splashing, and Ace hauls Pickles up onto the edge of the duck pond shore, panting] Larger snout .... wider upper jawline ... [another deep, gasping breath for air] ... decidedly darker scale pigmentation and I'm puh-retty sure you'd have had to been eating rocks for your teeth to be this dull. YOU SIR, are an alligator mississippiensis. Something VERY WEIRD is going on here.

[no duh, Ace. he looks around, finally realizing something pretty important:]

Hooooooooooooooooly shitballs, Toto, we're not blessing the rains down in Africa anymore.

((OOC: Heeeeere's Ace. As he is prone to being a bit of a jerkface, please do me a favor, hop over to his journal, and let me know what he can get away with? Thanks!))

An expedition, huh? Sounds like some of us are gonna go play hero to these people. There's a good chance it's a trap, you know. [He scoffs a bit, although it sounds more like a grumpy huff.]  Good way to get some people killed.

[He's quiet for a while though, as if mulling over a decision. Getting out of the castle would be a nice change of scenery..]

...Count me in, I guess. But someone's gonna have to look after the... plant while I'm gone.

So. It's that time already.

I know it doesn't mean much, in the current state of chaos and whatnot, but I've been here for three Earth years today. It feels like a lot longer.

[She lets out a soft sigh, doodling a turtle on the page, a turtle with four elephants on its back and a round, flat shape resting on their own backs]

So many people I know have been sent home at this point. Some of them have been sent home twice. Makes you wonder when it'll be your turn.

Ok so who's going to be around the castle to help out if shit goes down while the expedition is gone?

Not that I'm expecting any trouble, but some people have been complaining about 'security' around here...  So, why not...

Who are you and what can you do to help if those bug things decide to show up here?

[ Meanwhile while he scribbles this down James is preparing the only thing he'll need for this trip in the library. He's got a big scroll laid out in front of him with the alphabet in large print at top, and various common words and phrases underneath it as he scribbles out more as they come to him. ]

[Blues would never admit it, but he had been keeping tabs on Luke. After what he had done to the kid on Event Horizon, he just didn't want to see the kid get hurt again. Today however, he passed by only to see that Luke's nameplate was no longer there.

Hours passed before he finally opened up his journal to say, in a completely casual tone.]

For those who knew him, Luke Triton has returned to where ever he came from.

[Filtered to Luke Triton.]

[And now the hard part, to say something that he'd probably never say to anyone's face.]

...I'm sorry.

[Not long after Blues' announcement, Chie opened her journal to make one of her own. It was one of those days where she was feeling a little social, so she went to surprise a few of her friends and drop by their rooms. She was surprised and also not, knowing how Paradisa just sweep people away at random, she should have expected it... ]

Hey, everyone. It's Chie... Sheesh, uhm, to those who knew Ib, Aradia, and Ohjiro-kun, the castle sent them all home...

[Chie sighed, obviously upset at the sudden disappearance of half of her friends in this castle.

Later, Chie can be found in the shooting range, where she now goes to vent off her frustration and practice shooting as Kate taught her

[Filtered away from the First Gens, their allies and anyone intending any harm to the expedition.]

[ There's a noise that hasn't been heard for a long time in Paradisa. In the lobby especially it can be heard, and considering the Doctor has his own journal folded open, well, you might not have to be anywhere near the lobby to hear what's going on. A vworping-whooping comes across and sounds as if it's going to precede something BIG, until the noise finally recedes with a thunk, and the lobby now has a blue police box fully materialised in it.

Little more than a few moments later one of its doors opens and the Doctor pokes his head out. A look around, he allows himself a quick smile and an affectionate pat to the TARDIS before coming out completely.
]

Well. To start with the not so obvious question, who let the dinosaur out? Better yet, who brought it in? If we're quite done corralling the animals, I have some news to share.

[ Walking around the lobby, journal in one hand, the other in his pocket, his tone turns business like with a hint of impatience. He's made good use of his time the last few days at least. There was organising done, supplies collected, interior configurations recalibrated, people checked up on and found to be... Not here. His tone of voice is a good cover for that, as well. And then there's what happened in his room, another thing that he is conveniently not touching upon and will deal with when he gets back. ]

As some of you may be aware, in times past I have offered the use of the TARDIS as transport to the edge of the Dead Zone. Regrettably, the last time we were out so was the TARDIS due to a technical difficulty. However, as things now stand, I would like to extend the same courtesy for our mission to Fairfield and Winchester. Some may think that the TARDIS is not much to look at, but I assure you there is more than enough room for everyone four times over and then some.

Both towns lie North-West of the castle, and I estimate the distance to be at some eighty miles, all told. Unfortunately I can't get us all the way there, but I can certainly ensure interested parties a bit of a head start should they wish to travel in speed and style.

I'm well aware there are vehicles already, and do you know, some of them really are quite splendid. For those without conventional transport, you are more than welcome to join me. In fact, I'm rather counting on it. It will give us a chance to set-up camp while we wait for those that prefer to get there under their own steam, and we can ready any vehicles and animals - of which I am also happy to take - for the next leg of our journey. Please make sure that mounts have used the bathroom before bringing them inside the TARDIS, thank you very much, or you may find yourself on bucket and mop duty as a matter of immediacy. As for vehicles, don't worry, they will go through the doors.

I don't think we can wholly assume what to expect when we do get to the towns. I know that for many of us, the creatures that were encountered in Terre Haute has already crossed our minds, mine included. For that alone, I do have a message for the children of the castle: stay here. Please. I admire your mettle to help, I really do, and in normal circumstances I certainly would encourage the willingness; the group out there need perhaps need every hand. But if these Collectors are what we think they might be... You really would be better off to stay here.

As for myself... Well, tonight I'll be here in the lobby, collecting supplies and gear to be stowed. When we are ready to depart, I shall be with the TARDIS outside as we saddle up. Any questions?
