family reunion day 1;
[It's a beautiful morning, shaping up to be a hot and humid day, as so many summer days at the Blind Buffalo Resort are. The piles and piles of people arriving in their cars to check in at the modest front office make it a noisy morning too, full of chatter and greetings from those who have long been apart. There isn't enough room in the office for everyone, so there's spillover of the crowd to outside, and a noise crowd jammed inside the room.

You want to do it here? [She glances around the room and all it's furniture.] It'd probably be better if we went outside.

[He puts his hands in his normal pockets, ready to follow her wherever. He supposed she wasn't so bad. Even if she was a mean bed-snatcher.]
no subject
Put these on and follow me. [She leads them outside and then to a grassy area behind the cabin.]
Do you have any knowledge in defense techniques at all?
HELL YEAH FAMILY BONDING.
Not exactly... I know, only a few facts about it love. Just a few... and uh...
[He scratches the back go his head.]
Yeahhhhh... that's--that's about it.

[She does a few stretches and motions for him to do the same.] You wouldn't want to pull anything now would you?
no subject
[He begins to copy her movements, obviously not knowing what he's doing. He gets them wrong, but eventually as time passes on, he figures out (for the most part) how to do the stretches right.]
Well for one...
[He speaks as he is stretching.]
Don't let the other person hit you. An important one. Can't forget that one.
no subject
Well, you're not wrong. That's the whole point really. Anything else?
no subject
Ehhhh... that's about it. I'll admit it. Don't know too much about it... but I'll call myself a quick learner. Fast learner, agile too. Oh! Agility! Agility is important.

Try to copy my stance. Usually people have an easier time finding their balance by starting out shoulders length apart and than adjusting. And make sure not to bend your knees too much. You want to be able to spring into an attack at any moment.
no subject
[He assumes the stance. It's a bit on the wobbly side, so he tries to adjust. The guy is lanky as hell.]
...This... this is kind've easy, actually.
[They haven't actually gotten to the fighting yet...]
I am shamelessly making this up as I go...
I'll start you out with some blocking techniques. The important part with these is to make sure you protect your eyes, ears, and skull as much as you can. They're your weak spots that an attacker can and will, given the chance, abuse.
