The piles and piles of people arriving in their cars to check in at the modest front office make it a noisy morning too, full of chatter and greetings from those who have long been apart. There isn't enough room in the office for everyone, so there's spillover of the crowd to outside, and a noise crowd jammed inside the room.

[Renee manages to arrive first because she ditched the rest of the family at the check-in station as soon as she could. She uses this time to claim the biggest bed and to start un-packing.]

[ GLaDOS would arrive shortly after checking in, wanting to unpack her own possessions.

And would raise an eyebrow at how Renee snagged the biggest bed. ]

Are you sharing all of that room with someone? [ she would inquire, not one for keeping up with all of these distant family relations. She's not one for greeting people warmly, either. ]

[Renee looks up from her suitcase and smirks.]

Wasn't planning on it. Why, was that an offer? [Obviously she's joking. No one said she had to play nice just because she's with family.]

No, I think I'll be fine. I just can't help but feel bad for anyone who might need the bed more than you do. Like the moron over there. [ That awkward tall blond guy over there? Yup, that's him.

And no worries; she doesn't play nice either. ] Knowing him, he'll probably complain all night if he doesn't have it.

[ She's not even being nice about Wheatley and he's her husband. ]

[Conan comes running into the cabin and makes a beeline for his aunt.]

Aunt Renee! I left all my mystery novels at home! What am I supposed to do now!

[She glances up when she hears someone running in and grins at her nephew. One of the few reasons why she didn't just bail out on these family gatherings in the first place.]

I might be able to help you out with that. [She looks through her bag for a moment before pulling a bag out with an airport logo on it.] I found this while I was browsing, and thought of you.

[It was the latest mystery novel by an author Renee knew was a favorite of the boy's.]

[The small boy's face lights up as he smiles brightly.]

Is that? I haven't read that one!

Tallest bloke here. Pretty tall. Can't fit in any of the other... considerably smaller beds... so uh... you know.

Have you checked out the couch? It looked pretty big. [So helpful she is.]

[His eyes narrow a little in frustration.]

There are loads of other beds.

[He spots another one somewhere in the room.]

Look at that one. Pretty big. Someone like you could definitely fit comfortably in it. All-all stretched out. Comfortable. Bet you couldn't even touch the ends of it.

[So how many ways can a guy be thoroughly intimidated? Many. He spoke to this guy once before, and he didn't seem welcoming. While Wheatley didn't know him well, he kept his usual "cheerful" tone.]

[Maya will wave pleasantly to Renee. At these big family reunions it's hard to keep track who is who, but Maya doesn't get too bothered by it. After that wave, she'll walk into the center, drop her bags, and spread her arms with a huge grin on her face]

[Renee waves back, bemused. She'd forgotten how energetic some of her distant relatives were.]

[ GLaDOS raised an eyebrow. ] At least someone's happy to be here, I guess. [ Aaaand she picks up Maya's bags. Being an older sister wasn't a job that ever ended, even when she was married! ] What bed are you taking?

[Dhaos shows up just in time to witness Maya's antics. He laughs a little, making his way over and giving her a big hug.]

[Sneaking up on her until he can give her a friendly shove on the back, hoping to tip her over onto the bed] Hey sis. Wasting no time, I see.

[It backfires when she catches herself and then throws out her leg to trip him instead.]
