I know a number of us are already talking about going out to help those people - I'm gathering weapons now and I need to know which one of us who are going who are already armed. I also need to verify that we have some armed people who are going to stay behind, as this might be a trap.

[Yes, she is that paranoid.]

Either way, we need to make a strong standing there, and here. I've got my arrows, my bow, varying other bows and arrows from the shooting range, a crossbow, knives, and a sniper rifle from our time in Dinosaur Land.

[A sigh.] I wish I hadn't pawned all those hand-guns now ... but it couldn't be helped.

I'm packing light, whatever can fit into my satchel, for food and clothing. I suggest those coming do the same.

Fifty-second Protected Spell

I'm sure you've all heard the radio broadcast by now, and have seen that people are talking about going to help. Fairfield and Winchester are towns that were once "world changes", when the castle was imitating the 1800s of the United States. What most will know better as the Wild West era. They are now locations on the map of Nostos, not far from our castle.

I know people are eager to help, but remember it's important to keep a defending force here in Paradisa as well. I'm volunteering for that force, as I have experience in magical combat and know a number of protective and offensive spells. I'm hoping others will join me.

For those who can't fight, there are a number of safe places you can go in case of emergencies. One of the best I'm aware of is the karaoke bar Caritas. I know that sounds odd, but the original owner cast a spell over it that protects it from attack. Also, the owner is my adopted brother-in-law and is a powerful figher in his own right.

If you don't know me yet, my name is Hermione Granger. If you're staying to defend the castle, let me know soon so we can all have communication with each other.

So what's your stance on granola bars?

[It's a weird question for such a serious filter, but soon there's the sound of clinking and clacking and general kitchen fiddle-diddling.]

We'll need food for the trip, right? And I'd venture that whoever we find out in those towns would appreciate any help they can get, if they are truly in some dire straights! So I thought I'd make granola bars. It's definitely relieving to know that there are varieties that don't need to bake in an oven!

If you have any specific requests, please let me know! I'll label them accordingly and everything!

[If you'd like to pester Jane in person, whether because you overheard her or you're just passing through, she'll be in the kitchen for quite some time, mixing bowls and pressing down their contents into cookie sheets. They make for great molds! And please feel free to meddle with her recipes or snitch some goodies for yourself!]

I know you all might be a bit tired of hearing these, but please bear with me and hear one more.

We have asked that some stay behind to guard the Castle, and it is not a bad idea. I have opted to stay as part of that group, given much of my skill is magical in nature and will be nullified in the Dead Zone. That being said, there are also parts out there where magic could work and not knowing what you will find, I thought to make charms of protection for people to take.

While they might lose their power in the Dead Zone, if magic is regained, they could come in handy, especially if you should face combat. It is a long shot, but I would like to make everyone as prepared as possible, in any way we can. If you would like some, please contact me through the journals or if you run into me in the castle I also know how to pack for long land journeys if anyone is having trouble deciding what to bring. 

If nothing else, I hope they might bring luck and comfort.

Listen, I don't really know what your guys' opinion is of the First Gen, or anything like that. I know some people might think they're the enemies, or bad people...

But none of that matters. We have to go help them. [He gives a pause.] W-well.. I feel like I have to help them, at least. And I know some other people are already thinking about going...

...just, please-- we need to hurry. It doesn't matter who's in charge or anything like that. But we can't leave him or anyone else to suffer. Not when we can help.

Any questions, concerns or such should go to him and for those that don’t believe he can then remember that he is a boss of the most prestigious mafia family in the world. He is more than capable of leading such a trip to save people.

I was wondering how long this lull was going to last. Not long, it seems, though I can't say I'm surprised.

I'd say have fun on your trip, but I'm sure we all know how silly that sentiment would be.
